Hi everyone, I just wondered if anyone knew at what stage you need to tell Ofsted you are pregnant? Or are they just interested when the baby actually arrives?

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child, the plan is to continue minding as have a fab mindee at the moment and mum is happy to stay on.

I'm guessing also that I will need to do new risk assessments and emergency plans for later on :panic: more paper work lol (any ideas for those would be gratefully received - have few ideas but don't want to miss anything obvious, esp as my pregnancy non-brain status has kicked in very early this time  .)

Thanks for any info.

Take care everyone

You need to inform them about significant events... and pregnancy is one of them.

I'd give them a ring so they can note it on your file. Then it's done and you can forget about it.

Good luck with everything! :D

Thanks Sarah

I gave them a ring - they were not too worried - just want me to phone them when it actually happens (hopefully won't be a day I'm minding lol :panic: !!) they did put a note on my file though.

I'm now 23 weeks pregnant and will be minding (if all goes well) until the week before I'm due. I already have emergency childcare in place for all my mindees in case anything happens early. How do I reassure the parents that I'm ok? Most of them are fine with my pregnancy but a few seem to be having a bit of a panic.

I started the registratio process before i fell pregnnat and found out i was pregnant the day my certificate came through. I decided it wasn't worth starting up my childminding business only for parents to have to find alternative care later so i informed ofsted of my situaton. they said they would note it on file and if/when i started minding in the future to give them a ring and let them know.

The best thing to do is to give them a ring and tell them, they can then make the choice where./if to record you're pregnant. At least that way you've done your bit by telling them, the rest is up to them. Just make a note of who you spoke to and when just for your records.
