Hi
I was expecting my inspection this year but not before summer. I got a call yesterday to ask if I was minding children in EYFS and was told that my name would therefore be passed on to the inspectors and I could expect a call in the next week or so. I am in the process of doing my paperwork but feel I have only done 75% of most areas and will never get it all up to date before they come. Can anyone suggest a priority list please. I feel like my head is spinning and I cant focus on anything at the moment.
Thanks

Priority is anything statutory... policies, procedures, fire escape plan, risk assessments, attendance register etc.

Get the statutory things in place then look at learning journeys and other children's documents to show how you observe, plan and assess.

Next make everything in the house and garden attractive and exciting and do the tweaking bits like photo albums and displays.

Good luck! :D

Excellent advice from Sarah.

I would just add, if there is anything you want the inspector to know make sure you show them the evidence, don't assume they will see it for themselves.

Good luck

Thanks for that advice. After a rather stressful weekend I have now heard I wont be done in this wave and to wait to be recontacted. Could be any time before next July - yes thats July 2012! I think I will continue to get ready and try to complete the extra bits I didn't quite get round to doing. so it's not so frantic at the next call!

Oh for goodness sake, you think they'd make their mind up wouldn't you?

Still I suppose it's nice to have a bit extra time to get sorted.
