N:panic:

I think its going to be ok but Ive got up this morning and felt sick and Ive got the biggest lump in my throat that wont go away!

Ofsted is ringing me the week starting 14th march for a visit, I know Ive said this before but Im so scared im going to forget to show them something or something is wrong or not signed! Ive been good for the last 2 inspections but this is the first one done with EYFS.

policies done and dated/reviewed
risk assessments forms done and checked
masses of photos and tracker books up to date
contracts ok
planning ok
food hygiene folder checked
attendance record ok

plenty of work displayed...always is!1:)

Just terrified about my upstairs as even though my certificate says I can use upstairs I dont and havent since last April when a baby used to sleep in my room [ babygated in]...........I have teenagers and cats and their rooms are a chaotic unsafe mess so I dont like the little ones ever up there. I have a downstairs loo.

My perimenapausal 46 yr old brain seems to forget things so easily at the moment!!

Can you calm me down and suggest anything else that needs checking??????:panic:
:panic: :panic: :panic:  :crying:

All you can really do is double check your folders are updated.

I would have a read through the forum for advice from those who have had recent inspections.

Good luck! :D

I had my inspection on Friday and she didnt bite!
You are upto date on everything so stop panicing.NOW

Re upstairs,if you dont use it for sleep tell her.Close your doors and if you need to use the loo go downstairs.

You have time to let them know you dont want to be registered for upstairs I would have thought.

I have a teenage daughter, i go in her room with my eyes closed!

Dont panic, they are there to help us, they need us to do well because there would be no childcare if not.

STOP PANICING.

I had my inspection last week and the inspector hardly looked around my house. She put her head around the door to look outside and did the same upstairs without going into any of the rooms. I also have older children and told the inspector I didnt use their rooms.

The inspector looked through all of my paperwork and was very thorough with my risk assessments, planning and the children's stages of development.
She looked through the children's learning journeys and was interested in observations, assessments and next steps. She checked that I put next steps in my planning.

Do policies have to be signed and dated?! Oh my goodness. My inspection due any day now and I thought my paperwork was really good. But if I have to sign and date every single policy then what else have I missed?
Just been in the shower thinking about RA's and realised I don't have one for collecting my son from pre-school. So there's more to be done.
I feel so stressed it's unbelievable.
Sorry to take over your thread! Seems to me like you have everything covered. My spare bedroom is my dumping ground and although it's registered, I don't currently use it for minding purposes and children are not permitted to go in there so hopefully the inspector will respect the fact that we need somewhere to put our stuff!
Also, do children's files have to be kept somewhere locked these days? There files with contracts etc in them. My Network Co-ordinator said they no longer have to be locked away but need to be somewhere safe.

I've just answered your other thread on this one...

Just been in the shower thinking about RA's and realised I don't have one for collecting my son from pre-school. So there's more to be done.
I feel so stressed it's unbelievable.

RA for all types of outings HOWEVER I read reports where inspectors have looked at the childminder's paperwork for outings then gone to the RA file and looked for the RA for the outing... not found it and the cm has said but I have a generic one and the inspector has said it's not enough.

So I tend to do them for most places we go just to cover myself.

I have not read anywhere in Ofsted literature that they have changed their minds about locking files away so mine are still locked.

Hth :D

Thanks Sarah. I've stopped locking the children's personal files away and keep them up on a high shelf. Apparently the reason we don't have to keep them locked away is that in case of an emergency they should be easily accessible to us but not accessible for visitors to just go and have a nose! So hidden maybe rather than locked or up high? Maybe I'll call Ofsted to get this confirmed! Yeah right, never get a straight answer!

At my inspection in January the inspector looked at all the rooms I have registered -including my teenage son's room which I use if a child is staying overnight. He sleeps elsewhere I hasten to add!!
I have also heard from other childminders where the inspector hasn't even looked at the bathroom, let alone bedrooms so it seems to depend on your inspector as to what rooms they look at.
Good luck for your inspection:)

I don't use upstairs and my inspector didn't go up there. The gate was shut at the bottom. Teens here too so better to stay out of their rooms!

My policies are not signed and dated but RA are, and dated when reviewed
