I work with an assistant and we have 6 under 5 mindees most days. I have been worrying about how we can get out and about when my car is a 7 seater.
I had discussions with other childminders and looked on here but was still not sure.
So today I phoned Ofsted and asked the question.
The helpline person was not sure so put me hold and asked an inspector - It seems that as my certificate says I can leave mindees with assistant - this also covers transporting them in her car.

Thats good but you might need to check whether the car insurance on her car will cover it or she may need to speak to her insurance company and find out. Also would it effect your public liability?

Don't think it effects my public liabilty - as operating under registration requirements and within numbers. The mindees remain my responsibilty even though in her car (same as if she is in setting and I am on school run).
We only plan to be going to same place at same time - so I will oversee the mindees being strapped in her car and be there when they get out of the car. We shall be as close as possible during the journey - so should there be a traffic accident I would be aware.
Have checked with her car insurers - they say that because she is not employed directly by parents but is carrying out duties in relation to her work that she is covered by standard business use.
