I have just had the call for my inspection. Luckily i'm on maternity until July. When they phone you do you question them to make sure they are legit, if so what do you ask them?

If you do not feel sure about them, take their name and call Ofsted to check.

Thinking about it- i have caller ID and OFSTED's number comes up on it so i've never needed to doubt it. As RS says, just ask if you can call them back

I have always taken their name and called OFSTED back to check that they are who they say they are.

Thanks for the replies, i have until July now but just wanted to check what others do especially as it's not Ofsted who inspect us now.

It is still Ofsted who inspect us. They just outsourse their inspectors and have done this for years. Schools have never been inspected by Ofsted Employed inspectors.

What is worrying me is when i get my first inspection how do i know what a real id card should look like, i mean i have no idea what a real one looks like. Do you always get a phone call first and do you always get told the name of your inspector.

In my experience you always get a phone call (although I was thrown by the latest call from Tribal and the Early Years Inspector rather than from Ofsted), and you will know the name of the inspector. If you ask around your local childminders they can usually confirm most of the inspectors names.
