hi
in the school holidays my son and i will be working together, so i asked ofsted if they could increase my numbers - they kindly said yes but i needed to go through the local planning dept.
to my horror - i rang the planning and was told i had to put a planning application form in for the grand sum of £335 and wait 8 weeks to say yes or no. as any one else had to do this?
my increase in number are 3 under fives and 7 5 to 8s

any advice?

Debra

Unfortunately you need to go through the process and the amount you are being charged is about average.

They will write to your neighbours to find out if they object... which is why I have stuck at 6 children even though I could have more.

Good luck! :D

Unfortunately some councils are very strict. When I moved I had to write to the council to confirm that I did not need planning before I could start minding.

If you moved or registered here after Autumn 2007 you can have 6 mindees (of any age not just under 8) without planning. For 3 years before that the planning department would only allow new registering/moving minders to have only the number of mindees that took the household to 6:eek: . We are a family of 5 (DD2 was a baby) I could look after 1 mindee of any age:eek: .
