Hi, Im new to this so hope someone can help.
Ive been registered since 2007 i had my first inspection when registering and have never had another this is due to only doing the school run!!
Ofsted would not Inspect as i only had children from 8-9am then 3.30-5.30pm
Ive now recieved a letter from them saying they will take my registration off me unless i have an inspection within 6 mths which is fair enough!
I really dont want to loose my registration and have to start the whole process again.
I now need a young child through the day to enable inspection. also all new policies and portfolio!!
My first aid has also expired.
Can people help me with these questions please??
1. Does the inspector need to see first aid and insurance certificates?
2. Does she need to see my accounts ?
3. what questions do they ask?
4. What observations is she looking for?
5. Do they look at childs personal records?
6. How long does the inspection take?
7.Will she look around my house?
Thanks in advance hope someone can help!! :panic:

First of all you are working illegally if your first aid certificate has expired so you need to get that sorted or you could be in serious trouble.
Second my partner does after schoolers and he was inspected so they are wrong saying they can't come and see you. So long as you have a child who is in the Eyfs that is... so a 4 or 5 year old would be fine.
To answer your questions...
1. Does the inspector need to see first aid and insurance certificates?
Yes absolutely.
2. Does she need to see my accounts ?
No, none of Ofsted's business.
3. what questions do they ask?
Anything they want to about your provision, your ways of working. Have a look at some reports on the Ofsted website for ideas.
4. What observations is she looking for?
For Eyfs children a range of observations linked to the Eyfs and some ideas for next steps activities. Read your Eyfs for more information.
5. Do they look at childs personal records?
They can if they want to...
6. How long does the inspection take?
About 2 - 3 hours as an average. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
7.Will she look around my house?
They are legally allowed to look into any rooms you are registered to use for childminding. If you are not registered for them, close the rooms off and include the info in a risk assessment.
I hope this helps :D

Thanks! I only have one child who is 8 yrs so not in that age thats why they wont inspect.
Do i have to do a refresher first aid course or full one?
Thanks

If you care for children on the Eyfs then you must have a 12 hour paediatric first aid course, renewed every 3 years.
If you care for children on the Childcare Register then the requirements say -
Childminders must ensure that they have an appropriate first aid qualification.
My understanding is that this is a 12 hour paediatric first aid course, the same as for Eyfs.
If you are unsure you could give Ofsted a ring but as I say if you are working without first aid then you are working illegally.
Hope this helps :D

hi - just joined this forum. wish i had known about it years ago lol - could've saved myself a few headaches lol. I am in similar boat to you vmoses, been inspected upon reg (whilst still on 12 standards etc) and am due inspection as you are. i have to admitt iv been an ostrich and buried my head for a while re paperwork as i dont do many hours or kids. i was wondering if you know if i can get help/advice from anywhere without getting too involved with complicated and admitting my failings lol - i cant seem to get off the record help as such and im getting in a right tizz about looming inspection. (i have had call asking if im still minding and awaiting fateful call lol)
im not sure what i should be doing or what i need to show/prove. i managed ok on 12 standards but just duno with eyfs hwere i should be?!? if im making any sense lol
in other words - HHHEEEEEELLLLLPPPP lol

Hi, don't know if this is a new thing but my friends attended an Ofsted course and they were told Ofsted can access your accounts:huh: Not sure how true this is, I always bow down to Sarahs knowledge:thumbsup:
