hi
had my inspection in nov 10, got my report back at the new year and was very disappointed.
I had a telephone call from the Prospect Inspector the week before. She told me during the telephone conversion that she did not award an outstanding grade. As you can imagine I felt I was at a disadvantage before she had met me.
During the inspection she again told me that she did not award outstanding. This is totally unfair. No matter how brilliant a childminder I am I could only be awarded Good or below.
I do feel very strongly about this as I feel the prospect inspectors are not ‘singing from the same hymn sheet’.
i have writtern to ofsted and now in the middle of an investigation.
as anyone on the boards taken on ofsted and the inspectors?

Hiya
I am currently taking on Ofsted, well actually the company who Ofsted have outsourced to here.
Was given 2 actions regarding risk assessments following my inspection which I don't agree with. I am disputing them saying that I believe that they were firmly in place already.
Up until today has proved to be a nightmare having to not only deal with Ofsted but Tribal too. Today though I finally feel as if they are dealing with it and taking my issues seriously. Doesn't mean that I will get anyway or change things but at least I have tried!
Good luck with the investigation. I would have done the same in your shoes, completly unfair to write a clasification off without even seeing you! Imagine them saying that they don't grant unsatisfactorys!

I made a complaint when i got my report. A number of the points I raised were changed on my report.
I asked my inspector about getting outstandings - she said there were no criteria for an outstanding grade - but it meant the provider was giving above and beyond a good :panic:
I agree it varies from inspector to inspector. My DO was amazed I did not get outstanding until I told her the name of my inspector and she said - she is a very tough inspector
Try not to be to disheartened. As long as the children you look after and their parents are happy that is really all that matters.

I'm glad to hear you have put it in writting. They should not judge until they have met you. Having received an outstanding twice, if an inspector told me on the phone she didn't issue outstanding gradings, she would not be invited into my home and I would ask for a different inspector :D
good luck x

I complained about my inspector to Ofsted as it was before the new ones took over. I will never let this inspector in my house and I have told ofsted this I did get all the grading changd apart from one which I was fine about. I did get some of the wording changed on my report.
It was an awful thing to go through and they had me in tears but I feel the inspector got away with alot of things.
So good luck xx

I'm going to complain about mine too. She rang (from Prospect) and arranged for a two week time slot in December. I pretty much put Christmas on hold for my family, making sure things were ready for the inspection, and didn't want the hassle of having the tree and decorations out, using up space, etc, I wanted her to see how it would usually be. We also stayed in most days for 2 weeks because she said I had to wait for her until 10am, by which time we'd missed the start of lots of activities and groups, so we didn't go to places we usually would. The stress was awful, it was my first inspection and I just seemed to be waiting for it. Anyway, she didn't turn up!! I rang Ofsted, Prospect and her, leaving messages, talking to people, and no-one knew where she was.
The following Monday she rang me and said she'd been ill but hadn't thought to get my visit cancelled! She then wanted to visit the next day! This was the 21st December, and by this time I'd got the tree up and was ready for Christmas, so the house wasn't as I wanted it to be. I just wanted it over with by this time. She turned up and gave me a satisfactory grade. She then promised the report would be with me before the new year! I've had to chase it 3 times, no-one again seemed to know what was going on and she was over her timescales!! (Imagine if we did that!). I'm now waiting for it to be published on the Ofsted site. She also got the date wrong on the report and put the 22nd December!!!! Bit of a farce from start to finish. I know a complaint won't change anything, but they out-source these inspections and need to know that they're not doing a particularly good job of it!
Has anyone had a good experience with them..??? lol. xx

They have outsourced the inspections but the inspectors are the same. My inspection is due on wednesday and I am having the same inspector as last time when I was inspected under the standards.
My inspector came out to my first inspection and told me that she never gave an outstanding on a first inspection. To be honest it never bothered me as I feel that if I got an outstanding the effort to try and keep it might not be worth the time with my family I might have to give up.
Hope all goes well with your complaint.

I too, nearly had this problem all because I hadn't done a school run one! even though I had done one for outings, the car, you name it I had done it, even the dog!!! It would of meant me being down graded from a good.Fortuantly she spoke to the mangers above her and they decided they wouoldn't Phew! It's all down to "new" guidelines again and everything changing within Ofsted.
I really hope that they sort out your situation it's so unfair :(

hi
thanks for all your support
watch this space has i am not going to take this lying down!
i am not just doing for myself but for other childminders too.
i also think there should be another grade between good and outstanding.
perhaps that could be my next challange (even though working 60 hours a week lol)

How did this go? I am thinking of taking things further if I'm not pleased with my report when it comes through
