I'm really stressed now, Mrs O rang this evening and said she's coming next week, either tue, thur or fri:eek:
Please could someone... anyone give me advice as to whether I have everything I need?????
I have my policies & proceedures : admissions policy, settling in, dropping off/collection,working in partnership with children, learning and play, house rules, managing behaviour, health and safety, hygiene, illness, independent arrival at childminders house, safeguarding children on outings, lost child, equal opportunities, safeguarding children, confidentiality, procedures of allegations of abuse against a childminder, headlice, complaints.
I have my car documents, i am with shelias wheels and they insure for business, is this ok?
I have my public liability issurance
my accident record book
I have my child profile, contract, multi-permission slip
A learning journal
A folder of daily diary sheets
My admissions sheet
My daily risk assessment sheet
I have a folder of risk assessments : arts and crafts, walking, shops, car, park, library, public transport ( i am doing a ra course on thursday so that will probably help!!)
I dont really have any planning sheets, i have a yearly planner with themes, ie term 1 is fairy tales, and put a different one each week, incorporating all the areas of the eyfs, but my lo is 20 mths and has no interest in anything like this, i just let her play with what interests her, usually the doll and buggy!!, i do updates in her learning journal each mth, assessing how shes developing in each area of th eyfs, plus i do obs; planned and snapshot, and put all these in her lj.
I also have my certificates; food safety and hygiene, managing behaviour, using puppets with under 5's, child protection;recognition and referal, first aid.
I also have my accounts book, but i didnt think Ofsted would look at that
When mrs o rang i told her that i hadnt finished my sef (have abou 4 or 5 questions to go!!), but she said that was fine, and to just print off what i had)
Have i forgot anything!!
Thanks guys... really appreciate your advice

My Ofsted inspector who came last week wasn't interested in planning as I dint care for no children over the age of 3, she said only plan to themes and topics when there 3 and over. I would make sure you have multicultural toys, books, and musical instruments out, that's what she was hot on with me bit each inspector us different. Good luck hope all goes well x

Aww sounds like you're pretty much there.
I heard from preschool that they are in the area and they are waiting for their call anytime just like me so I'm stressing too! Also had a missed call from withheld number but they didn't leave a message :panic: Could have been them!
Good luck x

Ofsted have no rights to look at any of you financial info including asking what your fees are and any invoicing or reciepts given to parents. The only thing they can ask to see is evidence that you are registered with the tax office.
I have also never know them ask to see car documents.

Please don't worry - they don't ask for anything Inland Revenue related, that's your business and they don't want to know what your earning, etc. I've had three inspections and never been asked about whether I'm registered with tax office etc.
Also, I don't do any planning ahead, just observations with planning next steps but no planning for next week, next month, next three months.
My inspection was due last November but it's not arrived yet so I'm waning a bit on the paperwork side of things. Before Xmas was writing full A4 side for daily diary for 4 kids but have now cut back.
The hotpoints for my last inspections (but remember this was before EYFS) was attendance register and multi-cultural toys and answering questions about what would i do in such and such a situation i.e. if i was at a toddler group and someone made a comment about a child in my care.
Also sickness and managing childrens behaviour policy was a hotpoint at my last inspection.
Make sure you use a changing mat for changing nappies and wash your hands at every opportunity and childrens hands at every opportunity.

Hi Butterfli
It sounds like you have everything in place.
I think one of the most important things is to have confidence that your systems work for you and to be able to explain why.
For most things there is not a 'right' way - there are many different ways of achieving the requirements of EYFS.
For example at mine
- I did not have a SEF and don't intend to use Ofsted one - but explained my own system and how it works for me (Mrs O said didn't have to do Ofsted one - just had to have Self Evaluation method that worked)
- I had not done a Fire evacuaction - explained that as all children new we were still settling in and establishing routines. I had policy and procedure and said would be implementing in a few months. (Mrs O said was GOOD because considering needs of the children).
- I had not got any parent questionaires - showed one ready to go out at end of term (Mrs O said that was fine showed that I was going to do one)
Basically what I am saying is although every Mrs O has her own view point - if you explain what you do and why - she then has to give evidence why not good enough - where as if she just notes something not in place (as per her 'toolkit') she has to mark you down.
Penny :)

Thanks guys i really appriciate all your advice
She did ask on the phone that i have my car documents ready, as for the proof that i am registered as self- employed, i do have an email from HRMC stating that they have received my application as of 22/12/10 so should i print this off and show the inspector, i know it is late but when i started minding i was on income support and i gave them all the information they asked for, they decided i stay on IS instead of going on taw credits, then just before xmas they told me i should've gone on tax credits!!!:panic: , so i contacted tax credits and they were the ones who told me to register as self employed, so i did asap.. i got a letter this morning from IS saying that they have took my earnings into consideration and that they will pay a reduced amount:panic: .... so confusing, think i need to see the CAB. So thats why i registered late.
