My husband and I are new to childminding so we haven't been graded yet.

I was talking to a childminder at school today and she said that because Dh and I don't have a level 3 qualifications, the best grade we can hope for is "satisfactory". Is this right?

It seems unfair that I have spend a lot of time and effort getting the house and garden suitable for children of all ages as well as spending lots of time on paperwork to only get a satisfactory.

She obviously doesn't know what she's talking about! I am graded :GOOD:and only held my lv 2, I am now half way through my lv 3 now :D I think you should walk upto her and tell her what utter nonsence!!!

Good luck for your graded inspection :)

shes talking utter tosh honey , although inspectors arent known for consistency there is nothing to say you cant get good , or even outstanding. Having said that , satisfactory means youre doing just fine too!!

No that's not right.

The statutory requirements say you must have a valid first aid certificate and an introduction to childminding course...

Hth :D

thank you all so much

I was actually feeling really upset that I had no chance of receiving anything higher than a satisfactory

I'm graded 'Good' and I only did the ICP - fast track course and the first aid.
