Correct me if I am wrong but I thought Ofsted came out every 3 years but my CM friend said it's changed and now every 4 is that right?

Hi hun just looked on their website and it says once every 3 - 4 years but saying that I had one in 2006, 2007 and 2009 despite being graded as outstanding and good all the way through - must depend on area and perhaps how busy they are with new minders etc..

We have cms in this area who are fast heading toward a 4 year gap. Since Ofsted took over in 2001 when they said we would be having inspections every 2 years. It took over a year before they did my first Transition Inspection in April 2002. I was then due in April 2004 and had had an appointment made but it had to be cancelled by Ofsted twice by which time I was moving house and area.
I had an inspection in April 2004 when we moved to OK the house and then my full inspection was done in Sept 2004, the next one was Jan 2008 and I am now waiting for my next one but there are cms around me who are now between 8-10mths 'overdue'.

I know a local childminder who hasn't been inspected for over 4 years (something like 4 years 4 months infact)
Another local childminder they have inspected after 2 years 7 months since her last one.
Seems to be no rhyme 'n' reason
