Hi all, I feel I must tell you all , I still cant believe it happened!

I was due my first inspection Thursday just gone, just my luck after not going to bed until after 1am the night before making sure everything was perfect. But 20 mins before Mrs O was due to arrive, yep ! the phone rang Mrs O said she wont be able to come as she injured herself the day before slipping over on the snow and has had to take time off work. Will have to ring me Monday to let me know what day next week she will be coming.Theres me feeling sorry for her.
The next evening I had my christmas dinner evening out with some other childminders I know, and to my shock my friend told me she had a phone call the morning before from Mrs O asking if she could come and do her inspection as she has just now had a cancellation in the same area that morning, my friend told me her name, I was so annoyed Yep it was the same Mrs O who was due round mine who was meant to be off sick. Now Ive got another Mrs O coming this Thurs. Why couldnt she have been honest with me on the phone that she didnt want to walk an extra mile to my house that morning. Luckily my friend said she was going to be busy that day.If you cant trust Mrs O who can you ?

Most odd.

Not an expect - and never worked for Ofsted - but do know about government protocall for staff (and of course Ofsted employed by government)

Mrs. O if off sick should not of been phoning you - someone from the 'office' should have.

Also it is not normal policy to discuss reason why someone off sick - normally would just get something like 'Sorry Mrs O is unable to carry out your inspection today. She will rearrange as soon as possible'

So I would be putting in a complaint / asking some questions - especially if logged as you cancelling it by Mrs O - could go against you if you actually have to cancel the next appointment.

And finally - if you do complain - you would have been given the office number to phone if you needed to cancel / ask questions- and so if you had made a call to cancel the 'office' would have logged it - I would be asking for reason why appointment cancelled - and if told you cancelled it - proof of that call.

As I said - most odd

Penny :)

Yes very odd. I would do exactly what Penny1959 said if I were in your position. Good luck :D
