Oh you poor thing, hope the migraine settles. At least you have a few days to check everything is in place before Mr O arrives. I would check your RA first, have you reviewed them recently, if so then date the review :) have you got your emergency evacuation record up to date? and have you reviewed your policies recently- have the parents received copies. Give your parents a survey and ask them to return it asap, tell them Mr O is coming and have they got anything they would like to say to him :)
hth (for starters)
Good luck

Please do not worry
As only registered since July (and minding since??) You will not be expected to have actually reviewed policies / RA yet - unless something happened to indicate a change needed. However should have reviw dates / plans - even if only forward planning to do so in diary.
Also other things such as questionaires - perfectly reasonable to have one ready to go out at end of year - so write one - show inspector - but don't worry about sending out and getting back at such short notice.
Spend your time checking all the EYFS required paperwork in place so emergency contacts, child info, attendance book, signed accident sheets.
On inspection day - carry out usual routines - stay calm on the outside (we all quiver on the inside) and explain as you do things why doing - so while changing parent x prefers that I ??? - when putting baby for nap, this is your white blanket, the yellow one is for x. When doing snack X prefers a lidded cup like the one at home.
Just little things but gives inspector a lot of additional information without having to ask for it.
Remember you are a new childminder you will be finding things that don't work as you hoped / things that need changing or implementing - it is called reflection / evaluation / professional development - all things the inspector will be looking for.
Good Luck
Penny :)

He can't be all bad as he agreed to change the day of the inspection AND told you exactly when he's coming.
At least you've got the weekend to make sure everything is in order.
I'm sure you'll be fine - good luck

Hi Everyone
Just spent the past 10 hours checking and double checking all my paperwork and making sure I have start plans in place for the children I care for.
I have been minding since september and have got 7 children on my books, 2 full timers and lots of part timers that started in mainly November so not got any LD's for them yet but got start plans so at least he can see I am working on it all!
To be honest he sounded ok on the phone, but he has a reputation and lots of people say he is the one you dont want!
Oh well, what will be will be!!!
THanks guys for the support.. I will let you know how I get on! x

Hi Everyone
I have had the inspection now and am pleased to say everything went ok. Not supposed to say anything about the grade until the report is published.
He commented on how considering I had only been minding for 3 months how in order my paperwork was and how impressed he was with the standards of my learning diaries!!!
Also said I have a solid foundation for the future and can see how relaxed and at home the children are in my care. He also said that he could see that i have a lot of potential!!!!!
Seriously I think it was the most frightening experience of my life!

Congratulations!!! You survived! :D :D :D
Well done, I'm sure it must be nerve wracking!
Keep us posted about your results. I don't understand why you aren't allowed to tell if he's made his mind up already... Oh well.

Well done! Did you get a phone call 1st enquiring if you have any children yet, or did they just phone to inspect straight away?
