They are coming either next tuesday or thursday or the following tuesday or thursday!!

iam just updating my obs for the two LO's - they are all on post it notes at the moment so got 17 observations to write up and complete!! YIKES!!

Any tips please for inspection???????? I shall only have one 10 month old when inspector is here and he goes to sleep at about 10.30 for anything between 1-2 hours so he may not be awake too long to do much playing and interacting with. What shall i do when baby is asleep??

Any tips on how your inspection went and what you wish you had done different will be much appreciated :)

Sit and put your feet up and put the tv on

I am sure your inspector will fill the time with their questions. I was only supposed to have a baby when I was last inspected and explained that to Mrs O and she said she would observe whilst he was awake and then chat with me whilst he was asleep. At last minute I ended up swapping a day and had another LO, so we all played in the garden whilst baby was asleep (baby sleeps in my back lounge in a travel cot)

Good luck, I am sure it will be fine

I would put the kettle on and ask Mrs O if she would like a cuppa and then sit down and chat. I am sure this wont be the first time she has come across this situation.

Mine did question the fact that the child didnt have a comforter at all and also asked how I would settle him if he didnt settle straight away. He does sometimes cry a bit but that day he settled straight away, little star

gin..... and lots of it..... no only joking!

be as well prepared as you can.... make sure the vitals are in place such as safeguarding, risk assessments etc and then do an action plan for other improvements that you know you need to make but haven't got time to do. then just be honest about things when she comes... they are usually very nice people that can have lots of useful advice for you!

look in the downloads section from the bar at the top.... I'm sure that there is a list for when ofsted are coming!

Thankyou very much. I do have a very supportive development officer who has come out today, coming tomorrow and coming Monday to tidy my playroom and to just get everything out ready for inspector. I knew this was coming but when you get the call its like OH MY GOD!!! My development officer knew it was going be anytime now but i have just been putting off the SEF when she has even set me targets to do certain sections before he next visit.
Oh well, what will be will be!!!

Try to be relaxed and have confidence in what you are doing!

When I met my inspector on my driveway.... the first thing I said to her was "Hi! So you dont have horns then? I thought all inspectors from Ofsted had horns!!!!!" lol lol lol :)

She did laugh, but I wouldn't recommend this as an opener but it sure did break the ice!!!!!:littleangel:

Good luck for your inspection, dont beat yourself up about the SEF, a friend of mine had her inspection today and hadnt done it but it didnt matter!!!

Keep smiling and just be confident in everything you ha:jump for joy: ve put into place.

Good luck, Tracey x

I did my SEF the day after I got the call. I found it a useful exercise and allowed me to reflect on what I have achieved, my weak areas, resources I think I lack, etc. Put on the spot by the inspector in the day I might not have had time to think of the answers while giving examples of how I have met a requirement.

The SEF took me a while and it turned out the inspector wasn't given a copy. I had to print it out for her on the day. She sat and read through each section before asking me questions to grade me on each area.

Give the inspector your paperwork and then carry on as you usually would.

When the baby goes to sleep the inspector will have chance to ask you any questions she wants to.

Good luck - I'm sure you'll be fine

hi , yes do your SEF and remember to say WHY you do what you do not just a list of i do's... what are the outcomes for the children?..

check all paperwork is in order and you know where it is

check your safety areas.. and records

care for the baby as you always do, introduce the baby to Mrs O.. in a ""OHHH we got a visitor "" baby sort of way..

thell Mrs O when baby is expected to go for sleep and give her some of your policies and welcome pack. make her feel relaxed and you will relax.

have your development paperwork at hand and show how you understand the learning and development of children and how you track this for all your children on role.

have some examples of the children's work, mark making and pictures,

i always have a scrap book of the terms fun and adventures because mrs O will neva turn up when we are doing something realy exciting

ohh n chin up and good luck

Thankyou. I have only got two learning journeys and they are both for 10 month olds. I used to look after a 2 year old but i sent her learning journey to her new setting. I gave her all her artwork so i dont really have much artwork up on the wall...... is this going go against me?

I'd like to know how I get one, pehaps coz I'm in the sticks I'm forgotten about

Fabby you will be fine :clapping: Have all your paperwork ready to show her and carry on doing what you would normally do with the lo. I hadn't even started my Sef when I was inspected but I shall get round to doing it one day  :D

I think confidence does help and be relaxed while she is there, she is only human after all

Good luck.
