Parents are the first people to call but they are not emergency contacts!
Emergency contacts are grandparents, aunts and uncles, godparents, close family friends etc.
The way I explain it to my parents is ... you need to consider your wishes for your child if you and your partner are in a car crash together.
Who would you want to come and care for your child?
Hth :D

No recommended amount.
I ask for 3 ... some give me 1 or 2.
One father a few years ago said there was nobody and asked me to put social services.
