As long as it's accessable by you and adults know where it is and not accessable by lo's I don't think it needs to be on the wall. Mine is on top of my fridge freezer in the kitchen and I have a travel one in my car and one in my changing bag.

Mine is on a high shelf where I can reach it in an emergency.

I have one in my bag which I take on outings and one in the car :D

I keep one on the counter so any older kids could grab it if I needed it. I keep a larger one on the fridge for my use with the kids, one in my bag/pram, and one in the car. All the kids know where they all are so they can grab it if needed. They all know it is not a toy box, but if I became indisposed I would like them to be able to access it. I don't have it attached to a wall, I live in rented accommodation with rubbish walls that would not support the weight of a cabinet. Plus I like to be able to move mine around to wherever makes most sense at any given time.
My fire blanket is a waist height for the same reason.

yes you do need a fire blanket and it does have to be on the wall ( i checked with my childminding support worker yesterday) not a fire extinguisher though. i got my fire blanket with my ncma pack which was free:clapping:
