I've stressed for over a week and waited in on the days I have a mindee in the Early Years Stage as Prospect (the company who inspect in this area on behalf of OFSTED) told me too.

It turns out they took the times I had a mindee and told me to wait but didn't book the inspection. I could cry except I have too many children here. :(

Mindee is off next week so it isn't going to be till week commencing 20th now. I've been on edge, jumping every time I hear a car outside or someone at the door for over a week. I've not slept worrying about it.

Its annoying, but think of the good part, you have a bit longer to double check everything is in place. Hope you get it over and done with soon x

I rang OFSTED using the phone number on the bottom of my certificate. They then transfered me to the company who will send the inspector.

It's just horrible waiting for it to happen - I sympathise, a few years ago I was waiting for mine but the inspector had gone off on long term sick leave and no-one told me (at that time they rang you and said any time in the month!).

At least you know you've got a week to get some sleep before they come!

OMG Me too!!!!! I was told not to go anywhere for the next fortnight and I've been in the same state as you. I've had to keep 4 boys at the house for two weeks from 8am till 8pm! It's been hell and I've actually ended up with a stomach bug which I'm sure is due to the stress.

On the way home from the school run we always stop at the park. I've had to try and explain to 2 and three year olds why I've had to say no every day! Not an easy task! Then I've panicked that we may miss them cos I can't get my wobbly throwing toddlers to move. Utterly cheesed off.

Ofsted simply didn't show. I bet I won't get an apology either. Mark my words I will be having a rant!

OMG that is awful!! How can they tell you to stay in!? When Ofsed called to inform me they would be inspecting me they asked when I wasn't available. I try get out each day at some point but agreed I would be in after lunch on certain days. I would probably go stir crazy waiting in with all the LO's. :)

I wouldnt stay in. I would go about my normal routine if they hadnt booked a time with me. The last time i got an unanounced visit, i said to her what are you doing here you are not due, she was catching up on inspecitons that were behind and was in the area so poped round to do me.
Dont know if i would have asked a new inspector the same question but i had had this one for a while, as at that point it was yearly ones.

The child isn't with me the whole day, just 8.30-1.45 or 12.30-5.30pm. I've been out for the school runs but nothing else. It isn't just the waiting in though, it is the mad panic making sure everything is overly ship shape/clean, etc before hand.

I don't use upstairs for minding but the rooms are registered. I've been making sure the rooms are tidying looking, etc. Not easy with my own three children in a very small house!

I hear that! I've been a wreck for a fortnight and they haven't turned up. They know I only work mon to thurs so no way they'll come today. I'm going to complain especially as I was TOLD not to leave the house - only for school runs

I don't believe it, they have done it to me again!

I was gave them further dates/times when the child would be here. That was this morning and Thursday morning. They knew fine well they'd made me stay in three days already and were very apologetic!

They took the dates for this week and so I stayed in this morning. It got to 11am and they hadn't been. I called Propects just to check if I could presume they weren't coming by this time and go out. I then explained the situation and asked her to check that the inspector was allocated. It hasn't been done again!

I called OFSTED who said that once it is passed onto Prospects then there is nothing they can do. I have to deal with Prospects. I was advised to ask for the inpsectors name next time so I know they've allocated one to me.

I hear you!!! :(
I'm now on week 4 of a so called "fortnight window". I called them up and they explaied that there have been teething problems due to the new company that has taken over the inspections. I'm afarid I told them quite firmly that I wasn't prepared to "wait in" any longer and that I was going to go back to getting out and about as normal and it's now up to them to catch me in. Two weeks is more than enough to be grounded with 4 children every day. Utterly cheesed off with them for messing me about. It's nearly the end of week 4 (I don't work fridays) and they've still not shown.

I left three messages for them on Tuesday as they didn't vall me back and they weren't answering the phone. Eventually at 6.30pm they called me. I explained that OFSTED had told me to ask for an inspectors name and a date. They wouldn't give one! The lady didn't think she was allowed to give me either piece of info but would check with her boss. I was told to stay in for the next two weeks (this time I gave less times so we could at least get to toddler group!).

An actual inspector called me yesterday morning. She said she would come either tofday or tomorrow. I don't have EY children tomorrow, she said,, 'in that case it will be tomorrow'. She lives an hour away so will be here at 9.30am depending on traffic. :D <------ I'm actually now relieved rather than sick with worry.

I have a new little girl (14mths) for the first time ever, a 17mth old and my two year old. I've never had that many! She asked what my plans were and I explained the situation, my plan is to get through the day. The new girl has had very little time settling in as circumstances changed for the parents and they needed care ASAP.

Thanks, yes I am. I found it useful as I got feedback about my observations and things.

She wasn't able to inspect me in a normal routine and with an adult led activity as I have a new starter. She said there was plenty of evidence in the files to see what we had been up to though.

I was worried about my risk assessments but she didn't mention them in my feedback, I'll have to see what the report says.

Finally had mine today 4 weeks after they told me they'd be coming. Went really well I'm relieved to say. I explained to her about the being told to wait in and then no one turning up. She was very apologetic and explained that Prospects have a new system and need to realise it doesn't work lol.

Mine said they've had a lot of teaching problems. I submitted my SEF over 3 weeks ago yet she didn't have a copy to read. I had to stand and print it out for her!
