I have just had my computer give up the ghost on me and all my childminding documents were on it.

I am sure I collected more than I actually needed in the end but can anyone tell me the 'must haves' that I need.

sounds like you need to do a system restore - that should recover most of your documents for you.

go into control panel and look for system restore point
