I registered as a childminder in January and around six months later I got a call from my pre-registration inspector asking if I had children on the roll. As I didn't she said she would contact me again in six months!

Then I received a later saying do I want to resign my registration. I phoned up and said I now have children on the roll and they said they would pass the info onto my inspector and to expect a call within the month. Well June passed, then July and now August is nearly over.

I received another letter saying Ofsted records show I do not offer a childminding service. They apologised and said it was sent in error. I complained that I have been waiting a long time for an inspection and what was going on. She said due to the outsourcing there would be no more inspections until after Septembr as they had no computer system.

What a palava! I'm half mad and half glad, at least I get a bit more time on paperwork but I hate waiting!

Make the most of your "extra" time in case they catch up quickly when the private firms take over.
