Can someone please explain the rules around caring for over 8's please.I registered to go on the voluntary register which I think this is what it's for.

I'm presuming I do all contracts ect the same as for under eights. Is that right?

Are the over 8's then tied to the rooms I have registered? or am I allowed to let them play in my children's rooms which aren't registered?

In the garden half supervised if i am in doors with smaller mindees?

I don't have any at the moment but my friends children have been coming to me for years are now over 8 but often shoot upstairs to play with my children.Their mum ( my best friend) has said she may use me as childcare sometimes.I said the girls were welcome here whenever as they always have but she said she'd be happier asking me to have them for a days shopping ect if she could pay me.At the moment she drops them in the morning for half hour at most before school and half hour after school.3 days per week.i've never charged as our kids are best friends and I was going to the school anyway. On her days off my DD can often be found at hers.I'm a bit worried about giving her a contract and being paid by her and wonder how it would work if the girls became my mindees and had different restrictions.

am I making sense

If you need a copy of the requirements Ofsted will send you one or they are online here -

Yes but that's for insurance not for Ofsted

You must keep them safe... do that through risk assessments like for any other child

Same as above

Be careful working for friends. It often goes wrong and you lose a friend.

Good luck! :D
