Mrs O rang earlier, she started off the conversation by saying my inspection isnt due until September (Great i thought)! then went on to say BUT :( i am coming next week  ! she said that due to all the changes in the early years inspections she needs to get them all done and unfortunately im at the top of the pile!!!!!!

Im really panicking now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im all up to date with things but still finding my feet and working out what paperwork works best for me, so most of my paperwork hasnt been in place very long (few weeks), does anybody know if this will stand against me?

I think as long as you have all what you should have the fact that you are tweaking and adapting as you work with it and put it in to practice will actually show her that you are reflecting and capable of adapting and will work in your favour.

They will also understand that you are new and learning and if you thought you had cracked everything then you would not be accepting that there is always room for improvement.

I would not worry, relax and I am sure it will all be a positive experience.

They do take into account that you are new but don't be disappointed if you don't get outstanding even if you have lots of things in place. I had my inspection 4 months after starting and despite having over and above the usual paperwork (including a parental questionnaire and completed SEF plus things she had never seen a childminder do before such as individual child risk assessments, snack choosing board etc) my inspector said she could only give me good as it was all as yet unproven because I hadn't been registered long ie communication with parents etc.
Having said that they all seem to be so inconsistent who knows you may get outstanding as you sound like you are pretty sorted. If there's anything you don't have in place yet just tell her what you are planning to do and they like that.

OFSTED can be pretty scary, I have had an awful inspector cause me untold grief when my husband first started as my assistant, but at the end of the day they are only human and generally when they come to do an inspection, even if they dont agree with some bits and pieces, they arent generally nasty about it and they are fairly friendly!

It is only a very short space of time every 3 years or so, in that perspective not worth any worry at all!
