Hi, can someone please remind me how I let OFSTED know I have moved house. I have Emailed OFSTED to ask them how I let them know, and three Emails and three departments later they still have not answered that very simple question. Thank you for any help.

I'd give them a ring tomorrow... maybe 3 calls and take the answer that makes most sense
I would say write to them at the Manchester address, with a RA for the new house.
Ask for your certificate to be renewed and see what happens.
Sometimes they visit you and sometimes not.
Are you moving a long way away? :D

Thanks Sarah. It is nuts that we have to have every t crossed and every i dotted all the time, but they cannot even answer a question! I shall write to them this weekend and send it signed for mail.
I have moved a few hundred miles to not far outside Newcastle.

Well, after emailing ofsted to ask where I write to to let them know of a change of address, and then being asked for my EY number before they would answer I finally have received a letter from them. Only trouble is, it is a form for a variation!!
Thank god they don't inspect themselves, or they would be de registered for incompetence.

I am moving in 6 weeks time and I was told I have to fill in a Variation Form requesting permission to mind from my new address. I have done this now and I have had to send them detailed RA's for the house and a floor plan with room measurements on it. I have advised them of the date I move and the date I WILL be starting to mind again from (I am taking 1 week off). I was told it is illegal to mind if your certificate does not show your new address  .
Good Luck

Thanks Alice. You'd think they would enclose a covering letter explaining these things, rather than just sending a form for a variation of conditions of registration (which a change of address is not anyway). Oh well I have already returned the variation form to them telling them, it was not what I wanted lol.
This probably would not be annoying me quite so much if I was planning on continuing minding, but I really don't think I am. I have moved a number of times since OFSTED took over and previously all you had to do was let them know in writing!

This is what I thought I would have to do and I was planning on moving over a weekend and having the house ready to carry on working in on the Monday. But because of the stupid red tape I have had to inform all parents that I will be taking time off in order to give Ofsted time to visit / give me my new certificate during the first week of the new school year. I bet my parents are really happy with me

Now that you mention it, the nursery here is moving sites and it has had to close for two full weeks minimum right in the middle of the summer hols! If OFSTED have any issue it could be even longer. We live in the middle of nowhere and the closest other facility is 20 minutes away by car down the A1. So parents who work here are having to drive 20 minutes to the nearest facility then 20 minutes back to get to work (we live on the air base) then repeat it in the evening. And that is only if they have been able to get a place in another day nursery. Obviously because the nursery here is the only facility here then 90% of parents use it so to give leave to all parents affected would shut down the whole air base which is not going to happen of course.
OFSTED are a real pain much of the time.

I went through the same pains taking proccedure, earlier this year, when i moved to a new address. i would advise anyone who is thinking about moving, get your variation form now, then as soon as you exchange contracts or sign forms on the new property. copy the layout and measurements, draw a detailed plan of the whole the place garden included, fences, steps, locked gates, shed, garage ect. and get it all sent off asap for your new certificate.cos you aint workini till that address is on your certificate. from what i can gather they will only come out if you intend to use more than the rooms stated on the old certificate, eg; if you previously only used the whole of the down stairs and not upstair but now in your new address you will want to use rooms upstairs. thats when they come out.

Right, I wrote a letter, enclosing RA's (one for house, one for the local trips we would be making regularly, one for a selection of the resources I have on offer and also a daily check list). I enclosed a basic floor plan of downstairs - didn't include any specifics of the garden other than what is included in the RA. In the covering letter I also added Obviously as I learn more about the area and am able to visit and risk assess more places of interest I would carry out risk assessments for each place prior to taking the children, and as I take children into my setting I will update the standing risk assessments to include each child. Then I finished by requesting they send me my new certificate ASAP so I could begin to look for work.
I mailed this on Tuesday to the PO Box 4317, manchester, M61 0AW address, a lovely young chap just called me today and my new certificate is in the mail now.
So it turned out to be really simple after all, just that no one at OFSTED is willing to give the correct procedure, and I didn't need to fill in a variation form either.
I hope it turns out this quick and simple for everyone else who is moving.
