Friends Dad has brought me a huge bag of potatoes and found this when I was looking for inspiration of what to do with them

By the way was it an apple or an onion that you put in the bag to keep them fresh?

I think it's an apple to stop them sprouting.

Definitely NOT an onion.
Onions and potatoes react against each other and the onions will have the opposite effect that you actually want! You're supposed to keep onions and potatoes separate.
