Hi, just thought I would let everyone know I will be having my first proper inspection this week  , Mrs O has spoken to me twice on the phone and she sounds lovely and I have been told by my DW that this inspector is firm but fair so I am strangely calm:laughing: , I have checked all my paperwork, and other than a few minor tweaks to my risk assessments I am happy with the way I do everything so fingers crossed it will be satisfactory for Mrs O.
I have only been minding since March this year and there are still a few things I'm unsure of so have a list of questions to ask, mainly about paperwork or rather how much of it I should be doing, I do my obs in a note book and then type it up with an evaluation, areas of the EYFS covered and then next steps, with a photo if I have one and then this goes in the child's learning journey book, I'm just a little unsure if that's enough evidence, I also do a daily diary for the 16 month old I mind.
Cant talk to my partner about any of this as he thinks I'm doing to much!
But I'm not sure if its enough
Explained to Mrs O that I haven't even started my sef as I have only been minding a short time and she was OK with this so I'm prepared for lots of questions just hope she doesn`t use big words as I get nervous....
Will let you all know how it goes xxxxxxxxxx

You will be fine.
Partners dont see the big picture like we do. My OH has been a wonder but sometimes he has questioned why i need to do certain things and shouldnt i just finish now and go to bed! They think we are brill and we dont need to do all the bitty stuff we as childminders (and good childminders we are) need to do. When i got my result my hubby said i was outstanding in his eyes...bless.
They think we are brill...thats all i need really!

Well she surprised me and turned up this morning at 9.30am  .
She was so lovely, my mindee was very helpful and pressed all the keys on her laptop and made it do things she didn`t know it did  ....
It all went very well and she has now granted me permission to use my garden which is brill and she told me she was giving me a `Good` and she thought I had done really well considering i`ve only been minding since march, so I am very happy and to celebrate my lovely partner has treated us all to a meal, so no cooking for me tonight :clapping: .
Thank you for all your help and support, couldn`t have done it without all the great advice and tips from the lovely people on this site.

Wow! You're in the exact same situation as me (or you were LOL)
I also started in March and yesterday I had my "We're updating our records" call and been told Ofsted will call in a week or two to arrange their visit.
Does that mean they could call me and say they're coming today? Agh!

When Mrs O phoned me to arrange inspection she gave me a months notice and then gave me a date and asked me to pick 3 days from that week, I choose wed, thurs or fri of that week, it might be different for your area but my advice is don't panic, we haven't been minding for long and still have much to learn, just show confidence in what your doing, make the inspector aware that you plan on doing future training to update your learning and just relax.
Hope it all goes well for you xxxx
