Somebody know how I can be childmnider with overnight care?
I checked childmnders offers in my area and all have: must not provide overnight care-why?
I want help parents work with shift pattern and sometimes thay can have night shift, start early (eg.in factory at 5.30am) or finish late (eg. in factory at 10pm). But what with night time???
I was told that you are ok til 10 pm but beyond that you would need permission from ofsted for overnight care. You need a spare bedroom and safety checks for fire reasons

Thank you :)
But in the morning? What time is morning but what is night?
Can I use my sons bedroom? Should I have an extra fire alarm in this room?

Hi there,
Iam in the process of becoming registered. Just had my Ofsted pre reg visit yesterday. i have stated that i will do overnight care. I originally wasn't going to as i don't have a spareroom but Ofsted have said you do not need one...I am on the view like you, if parents work night shifts etc... hope this helps :)

I was told at my pre-reg that they wouldn't give me overnight care until I had had my first proper inspection - I would have to request it then and they would make necessary inspection etc. Give them a call and I'm sure they'll be able to answer your question!

I am registered for Overnight care and have been since I first Registered. I do have a spare room, but all the rooms in my house are registered including my room, but my room is only for children under two overnight.

Hiya - Ive just registered for overnight care - had my litlle visit yesterday she said - you dont need seperate room Im using a room my six years sleeps in; you do need fire escape plan and hopefully it endorsed by fire officer (good practice) provide suitable bedding/ risk assess room and have it part of your daily risk check and have temp control/monitor for babys not have cot by radiator, check windows . Have overnight care policy too.
My fire alarm is on the landing outside the room so one in the room is not necessary. I also have blackout blinds and she went on about the cord so needs to be hooked up outof reach.
hope this helps:)
