Oops... sorry but I have put this in the wrong section
I received a 'Good' in all areas which I am very happy with!
When I had the call from her I mentioned that my SEF was 'work in progress' but she said to submit it anyway before she came for the inspection.
She stayed for 4 hours and I felt quite relaxed and my mindee was a star. She didn't use a laptop, made notes and asked me lots of questions.
She did asked how I help children learn about 'sustainability'. I said that I am big on recycling everything much to my husband's dislike to the amount of room that it all takes. We grow vegetables/fruit in the back garden in every single space available (since we moved to Birmingham can't get an allotment patch as the waiting list is horrendous compared to our last parish). I showed her my junk collection for arts/crafts sessions which she said was impressive. My dd7 and ds5 are into this and we are currently making a volcano island and robots!
Checked all my risk assessments, children's records, learning journeys very thoroughly.
Recommended detailed not generic risk assessments on specific outings e.g. indoor soft play - that's another three RAs to add to my collection!
She liked the parent's information file which I keep in the porch. This has information e.g. common/notifiable diseases, complaints log/policy/procedure, EYFS themes/aspects/6 areas of learning and development - in detail, toilet training.
She liked my access audit I completed and asked if I had any experience/training on children with additional needs. I did say no and it is part of my personal development with courses and working towards joining the local childminder's inclusion scheme.
She suggested that I engage parents/children in completing my next SEF.
That is all I can remember so can't wait to see my report. I am now having a glass of wine and watching TV, something I haven't done for over a week!
