Hi,

I have never applied for a variation before and I was wondering if you lovely people had any experience in it?

I have one from 9-3 and one before/after school term time. My school age has just asked to come for holidays aswell, which would mean I was over my numbers by 1 on school holidays. Is this the kind of variation Ofsted let you have?

How many school age children are you registered to care for? The one that you have 9-3 I am assuming does not affect the child at school as they would be under 5.

If you could say how many you are reg for and then the ages of the children you currently have it would be easier to work out, I am thinking that if you can fit the child in during term time, then you should be able to fit them in during holidays also unless you already have some holiday only children increasing your over 5 numbers, iyswim

I'm allowed 4 under 8 in total and only 1 can be in early years.

I mind 4 school age before/after
and a 3yr between 9-3 whilst they are at school.

Now they all want to stay for Holidays which would mean I would be over by one?

Am I getting all cuffuffled?

Sorry but they dont allow to go over the numbers

They would allow variations to increase your ey numbers (so 2 instead of 1) but you must remain within your total number which for you is 4 under 8's

Do you have your own kids?

Thank you both for your replies. I have 2 of my own, both in EY until sept.

They will allow you to increase your EY numbers but not the total for under 8's

I agree with Hebs.

I have a variation for 4 in EYFS but still only a max of 6 under 8's. Luckily for me both my children are over 8 now so I can maximize my numbers with mindees plus take on over 8's too.

I think as others have said they dont generally let you go over your total number registered for, but if you dont ask under continuity of care etc then you will never know for sure. It might be worth a try.

Agree with hebs you cannot increase the total number of under 8's that you are registered for.
