Hi everyone,

I'm totally confused about starting up my childminding business - please help!

I would like to start childminding in Sept 2010, do I send all my ofsted forms off and they come and inspect my house before any children are in my care?

Also if anyone knows anyone who needs childcare in Northwich area (cheshire) please let me know! :)

I have done icc course, paediatric first aid and lots of other qualifications, done all my paperwork also policies risk assessments etc, just need vacancies to be filled now

PLEASSSSSSE HELP!

Thanks, Philippa x

Hi Phillipa I'm just down the road from you in Knutsford!

Your network coordinator is E. W. isn't it? She should be able to give you lots of advice...

Do you go to the childminder group in Northwich?

One of the best ways to get business is from recommendations and if other minders are full they might agree to pass on your name.

First though you need to get those forms to Ofsted and the medical form into the docs.

Then Ofsted will come out and see you and do your (and any family) CRB checks.

Then you wait for the CRBs to come through and Ofsted ok everything and you get your certificate!!

If you need any one-to-one help let me know... I'm sure we can arrange a coffee and chat :D

Thank you so much Sarah, big help :)

The problem is I haven't any children at the minute so can't turn up at childminder clubs on my own haha! Plus I do not know any local childminders so it's really difficult to get word of mouth around!

I'm glad I found someone close by as feel as if I'll never get any vacancies filled and starting to worry!

Thank you again!

Hiya

I only live down the road too!! I'm in Middlewich, I posted my forms off to OFSTED on Sunday, so it's just waiting now.
This website is so fab, I think I nearly know childminding inside out!!!!

If you have any query, you can ask them on here and there surely will be someone who can help you out.

Just need to get all my stationary, and policies printed off, to make me look organised, then fill in the form that comes with your application, to get my mind racing for those dreaded questions!!!

Good luck, I wanted to be started for September, but not sure if I will, finger crossed hey!

Good luck to both of you - have no idea if you'll be registered by September, a lot depends on how long it takes the crb checks to go through.

Lots of advice on the forum though if you have a look around and if you can't find the answers to your questions just ask, someone will have the answer.

Miffy xx
