They Should only inspect the rooms which you have registered for CMing.

When Ofsted came for their initial visit they looked in all rooms including my bedroom and the childrens bedrooms, didnt go as far as looking in drawers though
I would of thought an inspection would of been the same

when I had my pre-registration visit the ofsted inspector advised me to register the whole house so that i had the option to use any rooms i wanted, so does that mean i will now be inspected in rooms i don't use. My teenagers rooms have locks on, so does my berdroom so it's not as if any child could access them anyway!!
:panic:

Childminding is a very intrusive job, just because of my job dosent mean Oftsed can come in and stroll around my house like they own the place!!!

I have registered the rooms I chose, and those are the rooms Ofsted inspected, however, there are some on here that have said they still looked in other rooms - which personally id be inclined to tell them no, but then I spose they have you over a barrell!!

sorry I went off on one there:blush:

I thought they only inspected the rooms you registered for minding however my last inspector looked in every room. I was a bit annoyed because my bedroom and my office have locks on the doors and my minded children don't have access to them but she insisted.

It's so hazy isn't it, it's almost like it completely depends on the inspector!!
I wouldn't of registered the whole house if i would have known. Deary me, it's bad enough that you have to have all the right paperwork and the EYFS without worrying about your 14 year old sons bedroom!!!!!!
YIKES:o

I think it depends on the inspector

Mine didnt look at the other rooms, but I know some who have.

Personally I dont think they should. Especially upstairs room, where the children wont have easy access. We need some privacy!

I've never had the same inspector twice so have had loads of inconsistencies (don't get me started on that one) but one thing they had all been agreed on is .. The doors to the rooms that aren't registered remain bolted (mindee's on the outside!) whilst I am minding and other than that the inspectors have had no interest in their contents. I have my children's rooms registered but only use to accommodate a lo sleeping in a cot otherwise it is up to my children to choose if they want to invite a mindee into their space!

That's very helpful, thank you. Yeah when i had my pre-reg visit the inspector said it's best to register all the rooms in case for instance a mindee wants to go and play with one of my own children(providing it's safe!!) in their bedroom, or i wanted to put a travel cot in my bedroom, so i can understand that, however if i am NOT using any of these rooms and they are bolted shut then they shouldn't be inspected should they!?

My inspector has always looked round the main bedroom that is not registered on each inspection. She said this was because she wanted to make sure I had no children hiding in there!!  I think she meant locked in there:laughing:
I got nothing to hide, I made sure my toys were put away in the bedroom:blush:

I've had 3 Ofsted inspections so far (Registration and 2 gaded), so far the inspector has only looked in the rooms I use for CMing but I have read other threads where they have looked in other rooms too.

the whole of my downstairs is registered plus one designated bedroom upstairs........I'm sorry but I would refuse them access to the other rooms...........it is nothing to do with them in my opinion:D

They have never looked or asked when I have had mine. But I would refuse any way. I dont think my daughters would like someone going into there rooms x

I had always been led to believe that the Inspector can ask to see anywhere in the house whether or not it is intended for minding use. Having said that, at my last four inspections, they have never asked to see upstairs.
