Just had a call from Ofsted, they are coming tomorrow or Thursday!!! I've only minded for over a month and wasn't really expecting them!!! Don't even know what to start with. I've got policies and procedures, child profile (only looking after 1) that includes pics, observations and other bits of his work!!! The attendance record is up to date, don't really know what else should I double check!!!
Any advice will be appreciated!!!
Thank you.

Make sure you have your risk assessments to hand and also your fire evacuation proceedures as they are very hot on paperwork at the moment.

Good luck x

Parental feedback?

I was asked these last week:

Allegations and complaints, what is your procedure? ( I was asked, although in file)

Think about what the outcomes are for your children - what do you want for the children?

Inclusion - my understanding and what provision

i found I talked to her a lot, to make sure she knew everything I wanted her to know about!

Good luck

Maybe you can have little work done with your SEF, consent/ permission forms

I spoke to the inspector and she said not to worry about SEF at the moment. I have risk asessments for outings(car, walking and public transport), house and garden. The parent is bringing the questionnaire tomorrow; I put my policies and procedures under the 5 outcomes of ECM; I have permission forms from parent for different outings, administering First Aid and also medicine if needed, applying sun cream, using outdoor equipment. Am I missing something?

Mine was hot on safeguarding. Also asked about what you would do if you were changing a nappy and saw marks on childs legs or arms etc.... where would you document it. (I have NCMAS book and had already had to use!!!).

I had sent my SEF off and Ofsted lady hadn't even seen a copy so wouldnt worry too much, they just want to see you are evaluating your setting.

Make sure insurance and registration out on display, she also looked for the complaints poster and safeguarding poster.

Easy to say I know cos yesterday I was a nervous wreck before my inspector arrived........ but she was really nice and just sat and chatted really. JUst remember they are only human too!!

Good luck:)

Thank you so much everyone, I had a look at the SEF form so at least I know what they're looking for but won't be able to do it online as I don't have a password yet, called them today but said call tomorrow!!!
I worked in a day nursery before but it's not the same!!! I just wasn't expecting them after a month!!!

Have you got the booklet "Are you ready for your inspection?" - that sets out the paperwork you need to have in place.

Good luck

When I had my inspection, it was more on paperwork than the child. My inspector looked at all my files and asked questions on all of them.

Daily register
Fire drill log & fire alarm test log
Risk assesments (home, car, walking, school run, playgroups, park etc)
Safe guarding/child protection file
Complaints file
Policies/procedures
Daily Diaries
EYFS learning journals
Planning
Medicine, accident & Incedent book

Make sure you ask to see her ID before letting her into the house.
If you have a visitors book, get her to sign in & out. (not compulsory but good practice)

Make sure you have your certificate on show and the Ofsted poster up.

Good luck, let us know how you get on
