Just posting this as the last 2 weeks, I've been awaiting the imminent arrival of the glorious Ofsted Inspector - arghh!!! I've been poppping on here to check other people's experiences as it was my first grading visit; so thought I aught to post as I'd found other people's experiences really useful. She was here 3 hours and typed away on her computer, you're never sure what they're writing so it does feel a little unnatural, but you really do just get on with it and let them know where you're likely to be going next (as you can't always tell if you're following the children's lead). I used gloves at nappy change and was asked if I always used them, to which I replied yes but find them a bit of a faff and awkward, apparently don't need to use them once they've had their Polio or if you have a wound. Got her to sign the visitors book, again said I didn't need as this is mainly for nurserys. Asked questions here and there and I elaborated where possible. I'd advise Sarah's E books. I just popped on and got a planning one for £1.45 or near enough and found it useful to see ideas; thanks Sarah and to those who gave advice. I've just left teaching so OK with a lot of the planning and more than used to the paper work, but really do just crack on with the normal day, I got out play dough and colours before the kids moved onto the music box. Things you know they like help when the Inspector is asking you questions and talking to the children. I got outstanding in all areas so I'm relieved it's over and am now enjoying a glass of vino! Any Q's from those waiting for their visit, feel free to ask. I know i didn't know what to expect and was keen to find out as much as possible.

Hi, I've got mine tomorrow. We always have the radio on quietly at home but do you think it would be better if I left it off tomorrow as I don't want it to distract her?

Can I ask you how long did it take after registration for there visit and so you can get an outstanding on first grade then someone told me the highest you could get good which I thought was unfair.
I am beging to feel nervous now but well done again it is really hard work so much to think about but I love it, x

I'd done my SEF and sent it, but she didn't have it. It will definitely help you as it will flag up gaps for you and make you get evidence together, it's long winded and takes ages but definitely worth it as it will also refresh everything and you'll feel more confident at asking the questions.
They came 6 months after registering, but did want to come in January, but I wasn't minding yet.
You can get Outstanding in your 1st one, I thought the same and was worried I didn't have a proffessional enough set up and free access to all toys for babies, without getting things down etc.. but it wasn't the case.
Thanks for the support, good luck to those who have inspections coming up. I'll keep checking to see if I can help in any small way. It's good to have as much info as possible. Would imagine the radio would be OK, or what about some soft more classical music when they're doing more focused play? It has a real calming effect to help their concentration.

Spent a lot of time on the risk assessments for outings, make sure you've got them for and activities or meetings you take them to (not just parks and shops and stuff) as well as any special days out. Emergency permission was something that they asked to see too and lots of questions on sharing info with parents.
