Hi just wondering.....
My first inspection will be due in July ish
My first permanent mindee is starting June
On the EYFS for childminders course we were told that the first 6 weeks were for settling and only after that to begin planning and obs on the children.
Would I be able to postpone the inspection so I will have something to show the inspector when they arrive or just tell them LO is new and thats why I have little paperwork????? Thanks
If you have little to show Ofsted then I would get your new mindee started with a learning journey- Obs, next steps etc as soon as possible. I am sure Ofsted will be impressed that you have shown initiative.

I would have thought you would be doing lots of obs in the first few weeks in order to ascertain the level the child is at. I am about to start a LO who is 1 and plan to try and do an obs most days, but not to worry about next steps for a while, but to do some loose planning for him

Your next steps and planning do not need to be elaborate.
You see LO likes playing with the cars (ob) .... so you make sure they are put out daily (planning).
I wouldn't postpone.

I was talking to a couple of my childminders and they had heard don't know where from but if you do not have your inspection within the next month to 6 weeks you will not get it until September because of the change over.
As my cm friend is waiting on her inspection she was due last september.
Don't know if this is true or not.

Thanks I'll just start off with simple things while she is settling and hope thats enough for now. Hopefully it will be postponed til Sep. Think its being privatised so who knows whats going to happen and when?!
