I have been minding since January and I am confident that my paper work is all in order but I had my first visit from my NVQ assessor this week and it was awful. DS wouldnt have a nap so was tired, he was here so long that lunch was late and had to have snacks on the floor, he followed me around with a clip board for 3 hours not saying a word which was really inhibiting. I normally sing alot and get down on the floor with the kids 15 & 16 months but I was too shy.
I am now dreading Ofsted coming does anyone have ideas what could make it better as their attention span is so short. I dont want to screw it up when I have worked so hard up to now.

i presume you just have to try and carry on as normal as thats what they are there to see anyway
from what ive read on here they sit and go through your paperwork so that gives you time
best of luck hun

It sounds like your NVQ assessor was not very helpful or good at his job!
No way should he be following you around! He should be interacting with you and the children, asking questions, finding things out, taking an interest in what you are doing etc.
No wonder your lo didn't want to go to sleep... she would have been picking up the vibes from you.
And if it's meal time, you go and make a meal! it's your house you mustn't feel inhibited to do what you normally do.
Ofsted want you to carry on as normal when they come out to inspect you and children react best if you do that too! :D

That must have been a nervewracking experience! Try not to worry though as I don't think an NVQ assessor can have any bearing on how ofsted are going to judge you.

Exactly as Sarah says. You get on with your job in your house.
Any assessor or inspector worth their salt will not hinder you or get in your way.
you have to sort of pretend they are not there.
It is still however quite nervewracking, I appreciate that - I HATE being watched or listened to. I am more than happy singing with the children but not in front of other adults although i am more than happy to dance and jig around in front of other adults....... actually i am strange.....
