im expecting my first grading inspection anytime now!!
and i only currently mind a 8mths old!!! im scared my inspection will seem rubbish. All other childminders do hunts and learning about the wild. but with a 8 mth old!! i do sand and water play, song, book, quality time ect and its hard cos 8mths old get bored quicker and you just have to go off body language
i have my own 3 children and 2 are over 1 but under 5 and i thought of showing what i do with them, but they mite say im not planning for a baby!!
very confused:rolleyes:

hi hun,
i had my inspection yesterday and my mindee is 8mth. i just made sure i gave her lots of love and attention, sat and played nicely with lots of different toys and sensory things, no big activities! my inspector comented at the end that this is just what a baby of this age needs, love, time and attention, and this is what they like to see. demonstrate how you intend to be with mindee as they grow by reflecting in how you are with your own children, they are not supposed to be looking at how you are with your own, but i bet they do.
i got a good, which i am pleased with, it is so hard with a baby to plan so i told her that we take each day as it comes and my planning is based on their next steps and development needs like learning to crawl, and my obs reflect this. iyswim

ps. good luck

I agree with all the advice in last post. You could also start making up a little treasure basket, babies /toddlers love them, get parent to give you photos of themselves, brothers sisters, animals etc and make up babies own book ,which you could look through when ofsted are there - they like these ideas and it doesnt take long.

 smelly socks as well, get a pair of baby socks and put fresh corriander in one of them then ball them up, great for sensory smell and taste, when i gave them to mindee i said, smelly socks and my inspector asked if it was soap powder on them, when i told her it was corriander she was very impressed :D

Take pictures of everything you do and also take some of things/activities you have.
I got so flustered when Ofsted did my grading inspection, I forgot to tell/show her all the bits I wanted to. Mine gave me the impression, if she can't see it, it doesn't happen know matter what I tell her.
Also, I would list the activities you do with mindee and link them to the 6 areas of learning, just to show you cover them all.
Good luck
