Hi
Ive been minding almost 3 full months & Im starting to fear my first inspection.
I know a childminder near me who last year got no warning of hers, she just turned up!!!!
Ive nothing to hide of course, but I feel that we only get one chance at it so I would want to have EVERYTHING perfect in preparation.

I don't think they can turn up for an inspection without an appointment, have heard of them turning up following a complaint. I feel sure they will ring your first (they may not give much notice but it should at least be 24hours).
Don't worry yourself silly over this you will be fine

Biggest tip from me is to do your sef. That way you have already answered most of her questions so on the day you can just be onbserved. Have all your paperwork together so you can just hand it over then get on with your day like normal. You will be fine

I'm sure they will give at least 24hrs notice.
Do your SEF, get paperwork up to date and work each day as if its an inspection day, that way you will be ready when the call does come.
Good luck

I was the same as you, so just went through all my paperwork again to make sure I knew what was there and added anything that was missing or improved on things.
I've been registered for 6 months and they still haven't been out - rang them on Friday thinking they'd missed me out but they said it can be up to 7 months, and if it goes past that then that's their problem and I shouldn't worry about chasing it up! Think they have a big workload in our area, so still got no idea when to expect them. Had a phone call in Feb about the days/hours I worked so assumed that meant it would be soon, but obviously not!
I'm only just doing my SEF now - should get it done today though, been writing bits in it over last 2 weeks. Wish I'd started it sooner so it didn't feel like I was glued to my computer!

i started in feb too...just three quarters of the way through my SEF( i am supposed to be doing it at this moment...having 5 mins off)
I think the SEF is the biggie for me.
I have also gone through everything and made a big list to tick off as i go along.

Ive been actually minding for about 2 months. Ive done a few weekly planning sheets, made up a complaints file, done risk assessments, I am going to complete the online SEF, visitors book, attendance sheets and done a small scrapbook. Am I on course or just completely off???????

Have you done all your policies and permission forms and are they signed? Contracts signed? Insurances in place? Any observations yet and noted and planned next steps? To be honest, i am all new to this aswell but i am sure someone will come along and add to my reply x
