Mine says must not use 1st and 2nd floor as I live in a 3-storey house and lounge is upstairs and private. Got a huge fishtank in there with some expensive fish so didn't want to have to make it safe. Easier not to use the room. Got a stairgate on ground floor stairs so no chance of anybody going anywhere they are not supposed to!
Keeps my childrens bedrooms private as well - aka untidy, lol!
I know a cm in my area who was graded inadequate as her teenage sons bedroom didn't have a lock on it and he had aftershave in there. Mrs O went in to the room as there wasn't a stair gate so nothing to restrict the children but the cm was only looking after older children so no need for stair gate from a safety point of view. Mindees had never been in that room as it was out of bounds but Mrs O wouldn't listen.
Don't let mindees use rooms that Ofsted haven't cleared as if there was an accident there'd be a ton of paperwork!
