Yes I am really pleased but still have quite a way to go yet.
Lorri - I have a wardrobe full of different size clothes so will be ok for a little......just need to have a trying on session every couple of weeks :D
Angel - Yes I have had some tough days especially when meals that I love are being eaten like that curry the other day.....how I resisted I will never know but it really helps knowing you are there for me listening and encouraging me when my will power is being chipped away........thank you
Cheryl & Hazel - Why not join me.......I know that it is hard not to eat solid foods but as you can see the results are worth it.
If anyone is interested in doing it then check out the Cambridge website and under 'Counsellors' you will be able to find if there is one local to you.

I remember losing about a stone when I had PND but as soon as I was well again and started eating normally I went back to my original weight.
deeb66
22-03-2008, 12:15 PM
It will be much the same as any other diet that you come off. You have to be sensible and not eat everything in sight :D
What they recommend is to introduce food slowly and increase the daily calorie intake slowly so will probably take a couple of months to be back on food.
I will still get support and advise from the counsellor during this time and hopefully by the time I am on total solids again (sounds like a baby weaning ;) :D ) my body would have adjusted.

No.....fortunately I haven't fancied one.
I am feeling quite positive at the moment and even managed to cook dinner and stay in the kitchen sitting at table and chatting to them whilst they were eating.
Fortunately Jack doesn't get many easter eggs as most rellies/friends give him money so there weren't that many eggs in the house

I have got your message and will reply shortly....only just logged on....I have been spending the day doing a jigsaw puzzle........used to do them all the time but for some reason haven't done one for quite some time!
I know what you mean about getting started....I had promised myself that I would start in January but it never happened :(
I do think you have to be in the right frame of mind and you have had a lot go on recently so it is understandable.
Today makes 3 weeks for me which seems to have flown by.......it seems to be getting easier by the day.....but then I think the rate of weight loss is what is spurring me on.

Im so chuffed for you, you have so much control, well done!
has your consultant given you an idea as to how long these brilliant weight
losses will be?
Are you having to use anything on your skin? the reason I ask is when I lost
weight fast before, my skin didnt cope too well, and I got stretch marks!!
bazarre as I thought as the name suggested "stretch marks" it was just when
we have quick weight gain
I wish someone had mentioned to me that I had to sit in a vat of oil when

Apparantly I have lost a large amount of weight in such a short time and this is the first time she has seen someone drop so fast!.
She did tell me that the weight loss will slow down soon. I might see a really low week due to the fact that I have lost such a lot but then should stabalise of to about 3 - 4 pound per week which should average out at about a stone a month
The key to saggy skin apparantly is the volume of water that you drink!
The 'norm' is about 2 litres a day which I don't struggle to drink as I usually drink that anyway (years of diets have taught me that!)
On Cambridge it is recommended to drink 4 litres a day. Food carries a lot of water too especially fruit & veg. Hence the reason you have to up the water consumption.
Apparantly water does help the skin to shrink back but it depends on the person and how long they have been overweight.......no different from any other diet really.
Before I started this is one of the questions I asked and said that people who have stomach surgery end up with masses of excess skin but she said that is because the stomach is reduced to such a small size that they cannot drink the water.
Needless to say I am drinking the 4 litres everyday as I want to help the skin go back. :D

4 litres, wowsers, thats some going, good for you :p thanks for all the info, that explains a lot for me, I posted a while ago about dark shadows under my eyes, 1 symptom of dehydration, stretch marks = dehydration, I went for a face massage recently and she said my face was dehydrated,
Im going to drink 8 glasses of water every day and see how I go.....pehaps if I fill on water I wont eat as much hahahahaha

That's amazing!
I e-mailed my local adviser, toldher how much I had to lose and she said that she could work out a plan to suit me but I said I was worried about buying the products and not being able to bear the taste - I'm very picky! She said that if I let her know I could just buy 2 or 3 packets to see what I thought so I may give it a go next week. Trouble is I daren't mention it to Darren at the moment because he'll go mad!
What do you think are the best, most normal flavoured products Dee?
deeb66
29-03-2008, 08:09 AM
Thank you ladies.
Have to admit that it is getting easier now and thinking about food less and less. I can now even cook dinner everynight for everyone and sit at that table with them chatting whilst they eat.
When I first started the smell of food drove me mad.
My test of willpower will be put to test this evening though as I am out on a course all day today so told them they could have take away curry for dinner as didn't fancy cooking when I got home.
I absolutely love curry!!!!
Lorri
Stay away from the soups.......have to say they are the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted in my life!
I have listed some of the flavours of shakes they do - I have listed them in order of preference so the top one is my favourite and so on.
Chocolate
Fruits of the forest
Strawberry
Chocolate mint
Butterscotch
Banana
Chocolate orange
Vanilla
Cappacino
Toffee & Walnut
I really like the top 3 and have those flavours most of the time.
When you mix them you have to be careful as they can come out powdery.....
so I have a big tupperware flask/container which I shake up the water and powder.
I then blend it with a hand held Braun food mixer (with whisk attachment) until well mixed and smooth.
Then I pour it into a glass through a tea strainer......
I am just being picky here but even if you blend it you still end up with a few very small lumps......I don't do lumps I am afraid :D .....if I drank them they would make me heave hence the reason I strain it.
Once I have done all this I have a lovely well blended and smooth shake:D
I hope this helps.
I would definately suggest trying a couple of the sachets to check and make sure you can drink them before committing to it and spending the £35 per week!

Do you think this diet has changed from about 15 years ago Dee? I did it then for 1 week - had terrible headaches and other side effects but stuck to it except for 1 night I had a piece of steamed white fish, which the councellor had told me I could if I was really starving. After a week I had put on half a pound, which I presume was water retention. The councellor was horrible telling me there was no way I had done it properly and I burst into tears and it put me off. Thinking back I cant remember being told to drink loads of water, which we all know now helps so much.

I think it has definately changed since then!
The counsellor has told me that it has evolved and changed from years ago and is much better today!
I think you will still have a terrible headache between day 2-4.I know I did I also ended up with the shakes too but then i think some of that was caffeine withdrawal. I did have take quite a few paracetamol during those days but began to feel much better on day 4.
There are a few unpleasant side effects to this diet though that I think anyone who is thinking about doing it should know.....
Firstly .......Because you are on such a low calorie intake and having very few carbahydrates it forces your body into a state which is called Ketosis. When the body is in Ketosis it forces it to burn it's fat stores for fuel.
Unfortunately this causes bad breathe  You are not allowed to chew chewing gum so I often brush my teeth 4-5 times a day (definately before I go out!). I also carry a fresh breathe spray that I use if I start to feel uncomfortable!
Secondly......I don't want to go into too much graphic detail but I am having trouble with bowel movements! The is not much going in so very little coming out and what is coming out has become an effort so now having to add a fibre powder to the shake so that I can go!
I defiantely think water is the key....I genuinely do not feel hungry but then if you are drinking the levels of water you should be then it will be filling your stomach up. Also drinking the water also swills the mouth out and helps to reduce the smell of the Ketosis.
For a woman under 5' 8" they recommend having 3 packs a day but if you become really hungry then you can always add a fourth one without it causing problems. Each pack is about 167 calories each.
In my first week I bought enough for 4 packs a day as I was worried that I would be hungry but I have found that 3 packs is more than enough and have never had the 4th....now I just buy enough for 3 packs a day and have left the extra's in reserve just in case!
I won't lie to you - I do sometimes have a battle inside my head as I fancy eating food but then I think that you have that no matter what diet you do.
I hope all this helps

Hi Lorri
Yes they do sell bars also but they wouldn't be for snacking!
One bar would replace one meal pack......so instead of 3 meal packs you could have 3 bars in one day instead.
Haven't tried the bars so don't know what they are like.......I am not sure how filling they would be as they are only the size of a normal low calorie snack bar iyswim!
Yes the calories are low but the 3 packs a day supply's you with all at least 100% of the minerals and vitamins that your body needs so only cutting down the calorific intake.
As it is classed as a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) it has to be done under medical supervision. You will be given a form to take to the doctor to read and sign before you can start.

Thats amazing Dee, well done you are so good.
How much have you lost altogther now? and do you have target?
I started on 3rd March and to date I have lost 32 1/4 pounds.....which is over 2 1/4 stone.
I am really pleased to have lost so much in such a short space of time.
In the beginning I had exceptional weight losses but it has now settled at the predicted 3-4lb loss each week which I am happy with because it still guarantees me a loss of a stone a month.
I am going on holiday on 17th July so from the beginning of July I need to start introducing food so that my stomach is accepting it ok before I go away.
I intend on going back to it when I come home from holiday as I still have quite a bit to loose.
I know that it sounds really strange (Nigel say's I am affected in the head!) but although I have times when I find it really hard......it is probably one of the easy diets I have ever done because I don't spend my time thinking about what I am going to eat...
The hardest decision I have to knowing what flavour to drink :D

Thank you ladies.
Have to admit I am a bit of a high today.
I am feeling really good.....think I must at last be getting over this bug and really feel quite energetic!
I am convinced that loosing that sort of weight has helped as obviously my poor legs are not having to lug it around!
I was really surprised this morning when she told me how much I had lost - I am convinced that all that walking I did on Wednesday helped and that I have had a really busy week. I had expected to loose the 3-3.5 pound but this mornings result really was a bonus!

Yes you will definately have to get cracking ladies.....I intend on being in a slinky little number by Christmas:D
Yes clothes are now starting to get baggy.
Fortunately I have a wide range of clothes in my wardrobe ranging in different sizes.
I have pulled out a smaller size tops/T shirts etc and I can now fit into my jeans.
I haven't been abole to wear my jeans for about 8 months now and tried them on and found not only can I do them up with ease but I can also bend over and touch my toes and still manage to breathe :D
Put on a pair of trousers this morning and Nigel told me that they were now far too big and did me no favours so will have to start digging in wardrobe for smaller clothes again.
I really don't want to buy anymore clothes yet as I am hoping to loose quite a bit more weight and will leave it until a bit nearer my holiday.....will try and see if i can make do with what I have.
May have to pop to M&S to get some trousers though as I did look in the mirror and had to agree that they look rather silly!

If I am being honest I am amazed that I have stuck to it too!
I think the only reason I have is because of the excellent losses I have each week and they are stirring me on!
I still have quite a way to go but will have to start introducing food in 9 weeks time as it is 11 weeks until I go away on holiday.
Someone asked me the other day if I would end up putting weight back on once I have got to goal weight.
To be honest I think there is a good chance that I will but then the same as any other diet it will be up to me how far I let it go before I do anything about it!
I will cross that bridge when I get there!

Yes I am really pleased.
There is a down side though.....I am running out of clothes to wear :(
I sorted out my wardrobe and got rid of loads and loads of clothes. Threw away anything that was a bit old and worn but loaded sacks and sacks and sent them off to charity. Even last years sandals are too big as the width of my feet has shrunk!
I have virtually no winter clothes left and am surviving on summer clothes that really are a little too big but will have to do for the moment.
Have got a belt for my jeans but will have to give up on them soon as they are really baggy around tops of legs and bum.
Need to buy some new underwear especially bra's as have gone down at least 2 back sizes (probably more like 3) and more than likely 2 cup sizes.
On the up side.......I have got 9 weeks left until my holiday and am really beginning to look forward to it.
That means that I have 7 weeks until I have to re-introduce food again.......If I am honest I am a little apprehensive about that but my Counsellor assures me that I will be fine and with help and support it will be alright.
Anyway.....I have no choice but to continue when I come back from holiday as I won't have any clothes (other than those I buy to go with) to wear when I come home......definately won't have any winter clothes at all!
I have been looking at weather report for this weekend and it doesn't look good :( which is a real bummer as was hoping to get out and about on the bikes again this weekend as got to keep burning that fat and calories :D

I didn't get a chance to post this on Friday and want to say sorry for not being around very much in the last week but as some of you know my dad was rushed into hospital last Monday.
Even though things have been manic I did manage to go and get weighed on Friday as usual
I was over the moon to dicover that I had lost another 5 pounds making a total of 60 1/4 pounds in total.
I have spent today going through my wardrobe again and trying on clothes and have got rid of another 3 black bags full of clothes.
I have hardly got anything left now and will have to start buying some more......I had hoped to hold off until just before my holiday but it looks like I won't be able to.
I did go and get a couple of pairs of trousers on Friday as Nigel said that I looked ridiculous in the old ones and that I resembled a Russian Cossack as they were so baggy!

I must admit I found it really difficult last week what with all the stress and strains I was under with Dad........I was very tempted to turn to my old friend food and stuff my face.
I am quite proud of myself that I didn't and managed to stay strong.......I am beginning to really think that I have broken my addiction to food now!

It will be really good knowing that someone is following the same diet as me as sometimes it can get a little lonely being the only one ;)
The first 2 weeks are the hardest......once you have passed those it should be plain sailing!

Thanks Dee.
I have a quick question though!
As it is my birthday next Thursday and I want to go out for a meal as a family would it be easier to start the day after or can you have the odd day when you eat properly? I was just wondering if it makes you ill if you suddenly eat normally again?
Same again happens at the end of June as it will be my dad's 60th and we are going out for a meal to celebrate! I guess there's never going to be a completely good time to do it!
Got to say if the first two weeks are the worst I'm going to need lots of help to make it because that seems like AGES! Ha ha!

Hi Lorri
I would suggest that you start after your birthday celebrations because once you have started it would not be wise to break and eat 'normal' food as it will be like starting again iyswim!
In order for the diet to work....you have to be in a state of 'Ketosis'......this is what gives you the energy that you need to function and also stops you from feeling hungry!
If you eat then you will knock yourself out of Ketosis and will cause you no end of problems including having the strength to go back to the diet.
It takes at least 3 days of being on the plan and drinking the liquid only to get into Ketosis.
Also.....because it is a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) you have to have medical permission to go ahead with it so you will have to make an appointment with your doctor to consult with him/her before you start anyway.
That extra bit of time really does give you time to think and decide if you want to go ahead......so I would definately recommend waiting until after your birthday.
With regards to your dad's birthday celebrations.........I think you have to make the decision what you are going to do about that a bit nearer the time........as you say there really is never a good time to do it...
You need to decide what you want more.
I started on 3rd March and it was my birthday on the 12th........although I knew this and I knew it would be difficult I made the decision to go ahead as I had been putting it off and putting off and thought it was time I grabbed the bull by the horns!
It is my Father-in-laws birthday and my Anniversary this Saturday which is making things really difficult as I can't join the rest of the family celebrations as they are going for a meal.
I have said that I will join them after they have eaten and have a drink with them.......I have agreed to push the boat out and have a glass or two of fizzy water........
I really know how to push the boat out and live dangerously don't I

Thanks Dee! Ooh, this is going to be tough!
Yes....I have to agree that it is tough to make the decision to start but I am now finding it quite easy now but as I say the first 2 weeks are the hardest!!!
The other thing you could do for your dads birthday is that you could go on the higher calorie plan for that week but you will not be allowed to eat carbohydrates and just have a very small portion of protein (i.e. steak or chicken) and veg or salad.
You can ask the Counsellor about this and she should give you a booklet which explains it all.
No matter what plan you do you are not allowed to drink Alcohol........it is strictly forbidden.
You also cannot drink fruit juices and cokes, lemonades etc.....even if they are the diet version.
You can only drink black tea, black coffee, still or fizzy water!
On a good note they do sell a flavouring that you can put into the water if you want.
You can either have berry or orange....have to say the berry is the better one........but once again it will taste a little weird but you will get used to it!

Thanks Lana
Seeing the weekly results is the only thing that is keeping me on the diet........
I have to say that the sacrifices I am making is well worth it with what is now happening to my body....
I am really beginning to see some results now and starting to feel really good about myself....
Don't get me wrong I still have a way to go but by the time I go on holiday in 8 weeks time I will be the lightest weight tht I have been in 13 years!
Before I fell pregnant with Jack I was a size 12/14 but unfortunately suffered with Thyroid problems during the pregnancy and managed to balloon right up........
From the day he was born I have spent that time yo-yoing on one diet or another and getting bored and fed up and end up putting all the weight back on.
I appreciate that I will probably put on some weight when I come off the diet and I will probably battle with the weight the rest of my life but I do know that I will never put all that weight back on again and I will never be that size again.....
If I do I will need shooting :D
This is another reason I am getting rid of all my clothes as I go so that I don't have that comfort zone in knowing that I have bigger clothes to wear.
Once I have got to my goal weight I will be trying to stick to the one size clothes and if they start getting uncomfortable or tight I will have to do something about it as I won't have anything else to wear!
LORRI - You will be absolutely fine........your Counsellor will have been through it all before herself and will be able to be a wonderful support to you......I know mine is!
Do make sure you let me know how you got on as I will be sitting on tenderhooks waiting to hear

Hi Dee!
Well, I got there eventually - my TomTom was sending me round and round in circles so it took a while to find her!
My counsellor has put me on step 4 which is 1,200 calories a day because I have asthma I'm not allowed to go below this without doctor's say so and that's fine by me.
Plus, I can have a bit of normal food and fizzy drinks! Woohoo! I have to have 4pts of fluids which can include fizzy drinks (zero cal), squashes, tea, coffee but mainly water of course. I can still have a diet coke! Plus, 0.5pt skimmed milk! I'll be sloshing as I walk!
Basically, I will have a CD meal/bar for breakfast, piece of fruit mid-morning, salad for lunch, CD meal for mid-afternoon and a high protein dinner in the evening - i.e. 40g brown rice or 100g baked potato, 175g chicken or turkey, green veg or salad and then a piece of fruit again so all in all it's not toooo bad! A bit different to how I eat now though!! She said some people don't have the mid-morning or afternoon snack and then break up a bar to nibble on in the evening instead - that sounds quite a good idea - as long as they're not gross then that would be just torture!
I've bought the following selection to try:
chocolate/orange bar
peanut bar
chocolate bar
chocolate shake
chocolate/mint shake
strawberry shake
chocolate/orange shake
fruits of the forest shake
oriental chilli soup
spicy tomato soup
I'm not starting until next Friday and I asked about my dad's 60th and she said that's fine I can still go out for the meal, I may not feel like eating what I would normally eat by then but it wouldn't be a problem, I'd just have to understand that for that week and maybe the next I could plateau or put on.
It doesn't sound too bad but of course I've not tried the 'food' yet!
I will let you know how it goes, I will probably really need your help Dee!

Hi Lorri
Glad you got there eventually :D
You definately are a jammy beggar aren't you :D
One of the main things I missed most when I first started was my fruit and fizzy drinks but at least you will still be able to have them.
Obviously the 1200 plan is not as strict as mine but then I thnk I had more to loose to start with and this is why I chose to go on Sole Source......it was the quick weight loss that I wanted.
I have never tried the bars so you will have to let me know what they are like........if they are ok I might buy some to go on holiday with as a snack.
I really didn't get on with the soups.....I hope you have better luck than me......most Counsellors will change anything you don't like so don't suffer it as it will put you off!
I am glad that you have found a plan that suits you and I wish you all the luck.
Are you going back to be weighed again before you start or are you starting from weight today?
Of course I am always around if you need any help......although I think I will probably be asking you for some soon as I will have to increase my calories in about 6 weeks to get ready for my holiday!
Good luck honey

Darren has pre-deployment training in a few weeks and then he's off for six months to Iraq so because I work full-time now and I have my little boy I can't see her either during the day or in the evening!
I'm going to e-mail her in a little while and hope that she can take my stock back and I can have a refund because there's no point me doing it for a week.
Don't get me wrong, I'm more bothered about Darren going than the CD but it's such a pain, I was all geared up for it and supposed to be starting tomorrow! Back to trying WW again for me although I find that sooooo boring!

It isn't really that expensive when you think about it.
It costs £35 per week but you won't be buying any other food if you stick to 'Sole Source'.
When you break that down even further it is £5 per day or £1.67 per meal.
I think it is very reasonable........the only thing I buy on top is a coupl bottles of fizzy water a week and the flavouring that I put into it.
I have been on it for 12 weeks and plan to continue until I am down to goal weight.
I am due to go on holiday in 6 weeks time so will obviously be eating then and plan to return to it when I come home.

I have lost a total of 4 stone 13 1/2 pounds in exactly 3 months.....was a bit of a shame that I hadn't lost that other 1/2 pound and it would have been 5 stone in 3 months but needless to say that I am extremely happy.

I just take it one stone at a time.
To think about the end goal is far too daunting.
I have to start eating again in just under 3 weeks as I have to prepare my stomach to accept food as going on holiday in 5 1/2 weeks time.
I have no illusions that I will probably put on weight when I am on holiday especially as it is an all inclusive holiday!
I will try to be sensible but also want to have a good time but am planning to go back straight onto Cambridge Sole Source as soon as I get home.
I know that will be a difficult time and hope that I manage to find the strength to do it again as the first 2 weeks is hard!

Im expecting it to be really tough as I eat as a comfort thing and I will no longer be able to do that.
The idea of starting it now is my boss is away for the next 6 weeks so its easier to finish work early if I feel rough. The counseller said to expect head aches and feeling crap for the first 2-5 days.

Oh boy yes!
I felt like cr*p for a couple of days.
Felt like I had no energy, it was hard to function and I had the worst headache I have ever had.
I think a lot of my problems were caffeine withdrawal.
I used to drink a lot of coffee and coke.......although it was diet coke it still had the caffeine in.
When you go on Sole Source (SS) you are not allowed milk or to drink any coke etc even diet coke
I didn't like black coffee so stopped drinking it all together and what with having no coke either I went into caffeine withdrawal in a big way.
Lets just say I learnt to drink at least 3 cups of black coffee a day whether I like it or not as it stops the caffeine headache at least.
After 3 months I have got used to black coffee now but still only try and limit to 2-3 a day maximum.

Not on Sole Source it's not :(
However they do sell flavourings that you can put into water......either berry or orange.
I think the berry one is the best.
They don't usually recommend you using it for the first 2 weeks though but in your circumstances you might have to.
I am lucky that I love water anyway and have always drank loads and loads of it so it hasn't caused me any problems.
Yes they do have specific soya packets........talk to your counsellor about them.

Well it is weigh day again today.......where on earth does the week go
I have lost another 4 1/2 pounds this week...
Making a total of 5 stone 4 pounds..........needless to say I am very happy.
I have got another 2 weeks and then I will have to start my weaning process.......yes it will be just like a babies:D
I have decided to do the process over 3 weeks so that I don't upset my stomach too much.
For the first week I will still be having my 3 shakes a day but I will add a very small meal which will be around 200 calories.
So will probably start off with a bit of chicken and veg/salad but as you can imagine it will be a very small portion probably equal to what a toddler/young child would eat.
In the second week I will increase calories to a total of 810 per day so again will still have my 3 shakes but increase the size of the meal in the evening.
In the 3rd week I will increase calories again to around 1000 per day but will be having 2 shakes a day plus introducing a small breakfast, a very light salad for lunch and and evening meal and introducing some carbohydrates.
I will then be away for 2 weeks and although I plan to eat sensibly and try to make the right choices but still have a good time.
I have also discussed about what will happen when I return.
I have told her that my intention is to have a good time but as soon as I pass through Customs at the airport as far as I am concerned I am on English soil and that will be it......I will be straight back on.
Lets hope I will be strong enough to do that!

Thank you
I also forgot to add that I had to go and see my doctor afterwards and to say he was impressed would be an understatement!
He couldn't believe how much weight I had lost in such a short space of time.......
By the end of Sunday I would have been doing this for 15 weeks and lost that amount of weight.
He said that he would definately recommend this diet to any other patients who have tried everything else and getting nowhere.
He said that he could not believe that I looked so well and that he hasn't seen me look so well in quite a few years.
When I told him I was exercising everyday and was walking everywhere he nearly fell off his chair
He said that he is so pleased that he signed the form and agreed for me to do the diet as normally he is not a fan of such drastic measures but that it is obviously working for me.

Thanks Sue & Carol
Yes Sue as you know it has been a hard week and as you also know I think it is going to get harder yet ;)
Carol - I wondered that too......to be honest I am a little apprehensive and would rather not eat but I know that I have to get my stomach ready for the holiday.
I would love to say that I would stick to Cambridge and nothing else on holiday but lets be honest that is not realistic is it:rolleyes:
Not only that I think that letting my hair down a bit will do my body a bit of good as it were but am still really apprehensive!
I think if I go with the attitude that I will enjoy myself but try to be sensible then I am allowing myself a little freedom but still trying to keep my eye on the prize iyswim:D

A very well done to you Dee
I think its fantastic well done
I bet you are looking so different now - what does hubby think ? Is he really proud of you
I wanted to ask you what other people are like around you - example since I have been on my diet ( only a week and half ) the amount of people that try to coax me to have something else - " oh go on one wont hurt you "
Then if I have a treat everyone is quick to jump down my throat " oh you cant have that "
So I cant seem to win
I know its a bit different for you because you are not having food but do you find that anyone tries to persuade you to have something
Did they at the beginning if not now ?
Family are fine and really supportive but I find some friends who are over weight are the worst maybe they are jealous because they cant do it
Though no one can be jealous of my diet you all know how terrible I am
Well done again Dee im sure you will get straght back onto it once you come back from your hols

Thanks very much Angel.
Yes Nigel is quite proud as he can't understand how I am managing to live on the shakes with very small amount of calories.
Also I am now the smallest I have been in quite some time and he is liking the change!
I am lucky in that my friends have been very supportive but again some cannot believe that I would want to take such drastic measures.....but then those who are really close to me understand my reasoning so are really supportive.
I am quite surprised about my dad as he makes a point of ringing me every Friday evening to see how much I have lost and constantly encourages me......he has also offered to pay as he wants me to continue loosing the weight.
The main thing I do miss is that we used to go out quite a bit with Nigel's rellies on a Sunday and have Sunday lunch and things like that......because I can't go we are sort of left out of the loop now iyswim.
I know what you mean though about people telling you to eat things and that it won't hurt for one day......that used to happen to me a lot when doing other diets and it is hard to stay strong.
But now everyone knows that I cannot eat anything....however I suspect that will change when I start eating again :(
I think you are doing really well Angel........keep up the good work

I haven't started shopping for clothes yet as I could still potentially loose anywhere between 3/4 - a stone before I go so am waiting until 2 weeks before I go.
I know it will be one big mad rush but to be honest I am not going to go mad, I am going to buy the bare minimum because I don't really plan on being in them for long.
Once I do buy them I will have to start wearing them straight away as I haven't really got a lot left to wear now so they won't be brand spanking new when I go away but at least I will get some use/wear out of them.
I said goodbye to an old favourite shirt yesterday :crying: :crying:
I love that shirt and paid a lot of money for it........I got it to go to Cuba last year and originally I couldn't do it up. It laid halfway across my boobs and I used to wear a white t shirt underneath.
When I found out that I could actually do it up I was over the moon but now it is just too baggy and really doesn't do me any favours at all :(
I put it in the linen basket last night and will wash it before I take it down the charity shop.........it will be a sad day when I hand it over!
Holiday - I am going to Punta Cana and fly on 17th July.

Thanks ladies.
I have had to throw lots and lots of clothes out but like most women have quite a few sizes stashed in the back of the wardrobe ;)
Have to say that I am really struggling now though as even the smallest things that I had stashed are now way too big.
I did go and buy some new trousers from M&S......nothing posh but elasticated waist thingy's that only cost £10 each.......
I was amazed to find that I was now in size 14 on the bottom half :clapping: :clapping:
I am going to start shopping next weekend for my holiday clothes and will have to wear them before I go on holiday as I am now literally down to 2-3 T shirts (which look a bit stupid on me really!) and 2 pairs of trousers.......
I have nothing else
I really don't have a clue what size tops I will need so will have to try different sizes on.........I am top heavy though (and big busted!) so know that my top and bottom sizes won't match!
Also have to buy some new underwear as what I am wearing at the moment really isn't doing the job :D

Thanks Lana.
Yes I am really chuffed and really beginning to feel proud of myself too.
I cannot explain how loosing so much weight has made me feel but I do know that my knees/legs are thanking me for it
A couple of weeks ago I did get a little tearful as it was happening too fast if that makes sense.......it was such a shock.
It has only been in the last couple of stone that I am really beginning to see a difference and notice how quickly I grow out of clothes.
About a month ago I tried on a light fleece top but it really didn't fit very well as it still showed every lump and bump (I had brought it about 7-8 years ago and it never ever fitted me and still had the tags on it!)
Last Wednesday when it was a little nippy but not really cold I was trying tops on (as I didn't have a light weight jacket and I would have been a little too cold in a t shirt) and I thought that it still wouldn't fit but when I put it on I was amazed.
It really was a good job that I did try it on as it is already a little too big and if left much longer I would have missed the boat completely!

Sorry ladies.....it has been really hectic.
I lost another 3 3/4 pounds this week making a total of 5 stone 11 3/4 pounds so only another 2 1/4 pounds to reach my holiday target of 6 stone :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
Needless to say that I am over the moon.
I went clothes shopping yesterday and today......I am absolutely shattered but pleased to say that I am nearly finished :clapping:
I have tried on soooooooo many different clothes in the last 2 days!
I got up this morning and left the house at 8.15 to get to one of our local shopping centres pretty early and started off sitting down in Costa's and had a cup of coffee waiting for the shops to open.
We got home at 5 o'clock but had to go out again as found that our rabbit was poorly and had to seek assistance from the emergency vet hospital.....I will start another thread in the lounge.
I am really pleased that I have got loads of really nice clothes in styles/colours that I wouldn't normally wear.......spent a fortune but over the moon with what I have.
Seeing myself in these clothes has finally brought it home exactly how much weight I have lost and although I do still have lots more to loose I have to say so myself......I do look pretty amazing!
I have started eating again......that is a absolute nightmare...
I sat last night with a dessert basin size of salad and roast chicken......I pushed it around the bowl for 3/4 of an hour and really struggled to swallow it.
can't say that the sensation of food going into my stomach was a pleasant experience either.......I only ate about half before I gave up as I actually felt sick and was worried at one point if my stomach was going to reject the food.
I was really uncomfortable all night as my stomach felt really heavy (even though I hadn't actually eaten much at all!), I had cronic indigestion and had to visit the toilet several times (sorry...too much information!).
Still felt uncomfortable this morning.
I have started eating the Cambridge bars (instead of 1 shake) and had this for lunch and this made me feel uncomfortable too.....
I was due to eat a small meal tonight but didn't get back from the emergency vet hospital until 7.30pm and really didnt feel like eating at all so just had one of my shakes instead.
I must try and ensure that I try to eat everyday otherwise my stomach will not be ready for my holiday :(
Keep your fingers crossed for me and hope that tomorrow is a better day with the food!
I am off shopping again tomorrow this time for a swimming costume and some underwear.

Dee, the first part of your post made me cry (hubby wondered what was up with me). I remember the feeling when I got to my 6 stone goal and I want to get that feeling back. I was never skinny - nor do I think I would want to be as I wouldnt feel like me. I did however feel great, gorgeous, special and sexy  The comments I got from people (even people I didnt know but see about) were amazing and I felt so happy. I have put 2 stone back on and reading this today has given me the boost I need to get back on track.

Thank you ladies.
Spent another fortune yesterday!!!!
I went into the Triumph underwear shop shop as it is the best sort of place for me to buy my bras etc as I am big busted.
Anyway.......I came out of there buying 2 pairs bras and a swimming costume and spent a whopping £105
The swimming costume was £55 on its own
Have to admit though.......it is really good and does a wonderful job of holding me all in and up.......I am afraid gravity is getting the better of me ;)
Also popped into another clothes shop and they had a sale on so ended up getting another 7 tops which cost just under £100 but again really pleased with what I have got as they are styles and colours I wouldn't normally dream of wearing.
I know I keep promising to have a picture taken and now I have some new clothes that actually fit I might get around to it :D
I will probably get a picture of me in one of my M&S skirts that I got from their Per Una range.........
They were in the sale and reduced from £45 to £19 (plus I had a 20% discount card) so I ended up buying 3 different styles as I really liked them..
I haven't worn a skirt in absolute years!!!!
I also selected loads of different tops that were shorter in length which I have found are a lot more flattering now as I haven't got as many bulges and lumps and bumps to hide!
Will definately make sure I get loads of holiday pics this year.......trust me you will all be bored stiff of looking at them :D

Yesterday was my last weigh in as I go away on holiday in a few days time.
I lost another 2lb which is pretty good considering that I am eating.
Now lost a grand total of 6st 5lb which I am really pleased about......just praying that I don't put on too much weight whilst I am away.
I introduced fruit & carbs yesterday and have to say that I feel quite bloated. I am obviously only eating small portions but still ended up struggling and wondered how on earth I used to eat huge plates of rice & pasta!
I had to go into town today to change some of my new clothes......Fortunately I had left the labels/tags on everything.
I did a trying on session last night and found that some items were now too big and would be better in a smaller size.
Ended up getting a little frustrated as I couldn't get everything in a smaller size and the shops wouldn't order a replacement in as they are now starting to stock their Autumn collection.........It would seem that they think the summer is already over and done with
how right they are though dee, well done on your continued weight loss you really are amazing

Wow Dee! Hope you had (or maybe are still having) a fab holiday!!
You've done really well on Cambridge :) I am an ex-Cambridge dieter myself - lost almost 3st on it last year and successfully kept it all off for a year but then had a wobbly time around May this year. Have managed to put on about 1/2st through comfort eating so I've gone on to WW points counting to get it all off again before the damage gets any worse!
Have you got much left to go?

07-08-2008, 08:07 AM
I am back from my holiday and due to weigh in tomorrow as usual tomorrow morning.
I went back on the diet last Thursday which was the day that I travelled home from Dom Rep.
Ali - Well done for going to WW to keep the weight gain under control.......that is pretty much what I am planning to do as I really like WW and the flexability of it.......I am under no illusions that I will probably be on a 'diet' for the rest of my life in order to keep it under control.
I have got another 3 1/2 - 4 stone to go but haven't really set a goal in my head........I am trying to be realistic and remember that I am in my 40's and that i might not get to the weight I was in my 20's so I really am playing it by ear.
Willowdancer
07-08-2008, 08:59 AM
Yeah I know what you mean Dee - I think I shall be on a diet forever too. I am absolutely useless at things like portion control (always had eyes bigger than my stomach according to my mum, LOL) so I absolutely have to count points as I know I can't be trusted not to over-eat if I don't!
Good luck with the rest of your journey - I'm sure it will come off in no time! Don't underestimate yourself - even though I've got 1/2st to shed I'm still lighter than than I was in my 20's.
Just need to get some exercise so it actually looks like it. 3 kids in 2 years have left me with much less than a washboard stomach.

I went and got weighed as I usually do on Friday mornings.
I have lost another 5 3/4 pounds making a grand total of 6st 10 3/4lbs (or 94 3/4 lbs)........to say I am over the moon would be an understatement
:jump for joy: :jump for joy: :jump for joy:
I cannot believe that I have had a week without being weighed and a 2 week holiday and I have still lost that amount of weight.
I know that I did put weight on whilst on holiday as I ate really well.
When I got my holiday clothes I bought them so they were quite snug and whilst I was away I noticed they had got a little snugger!
I ate virtually whatever I wanted......yes I did try to still be sensible with the quantities but I was eating loads of different foods including nuts, crisps, ice-cream, bread and carbs but I also ate lots of lean meat & fish with loads of veg & salads (I took a bottle of Heinz Light salad cream with me - yum yum) - and of course I ate loads of fruit.
I also had some alcohol but didn't go too overboard as I found that after 2 drinks it was going to my head as I am not used to it anymore so I mainly stuck to diet soft drinks and water.
As I have already said in the lounge I did end up with a diarrhea bug which I really believe helped me to shift the additional weight I had put on and of course getting straight back on the diet has also helped to make sure that I have continued to loose weight.
I am so pleased and happy and can't stop smiling - I do feel very proud of myself and I know that my family is very proud of me too.
My counsellor is on holiday next week so won't be able to get weighed until 2 weeks time.......I will let you know how I get on after I have been weighed on 22nd August.

I am still plodding away and due to be weighed on Friday.
I am expecting quite a substantial loss as my counsellor was away last week so couldn't get weighed.
I have hit a pitful though and have to consider my options very carefully.
MY HAIR IS FALLING OUT.
I don't mean in little bits I literally mean that my hair is coming out in chunks!
I have lost over half the hair on my head and what I have left is very thin.
I always knew that it could happen but it was such a shock when it did.
It can happen on any extreme diet and is not just selective to the Cambridge diet.
As I am on so few calories (around 470 per day) my hair has not been getting the calories needed for growth.
As you know I was eating fairly normally whilst I was away on holiday and my body thought that it was finally getting calories so stimulated hair growth in the folicles under the scalp which in turn has pushed out the old hair........it is a bit like baby & adult teeth scenario.
Problem is that as soon as I came home I stopped eating and went back to the diet again which has stopped my hair from growing so it is very thin at the moment.
The loss has seemed to slow down (I was worried I was going to end up bald!) but I am going to have to take it a week at a time.
My hair will not start growing again until I start putting more calories in so I am in a catch 22 situation.
I have about another 3 1/2 stone to go and I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel and don't want to give up however I do of course have the worry that my hair will continue to fall out!
Under normal circumstances the last 1 1/2 - 2 stone is usually lost a lot slower as Cambridge encourages you to start increasing calories slowly so that the body gets used to accepting more calories and that way it helps to ensure that you don't pile the weight back on again.
I therefore would normally have another 1 1/2 - 2 stone to go before I start climbing the steps and increasing the food intake.
If my hair continues to fall out then I will have to take these steps a lot earlier than what I wanted to in order to stimulate growth which will of course slow my rate of weight loss down.
I am a little stressed out about it at the moment but trying to take it in my stride as i have no doubt that the added stress will cause more hair loss :panic:

Oh gosh Dee, no wonder you are stressed about it.
It's a very drastic side effect isn't it.
I hope that your CD counsellor is giving you lots of support with this.
I would be inclined to up my calories a bit straight away if it was me.
You are doing so well and you'd still lose weight if you had a little more, just a touch slower.
Take care, it must be very scary having your hair fall out like that.

I did not know that this happened Dee
Poor you - and the more you stress is not going to help either is it ?
Hope she can give you some good advice when you see her on Friday
I agree with Lorri think I would have more cals to be honest - you dont want to make yourself ill with worry do you
You are going to have to start eating more anyway and if you do it careful I am sure you will still get rid of the extra few stones
Good luck
Hope you are ok anyway ?

Hi Dee just caught up with the diet thing, my hair started falling ot in feb for no reason but spoke to hairdresser and she said to go for an Indian headmassage and it did work, rubbing different oils in to the head helps
Thinking of you and hoping you and the counsellor are able to talk through this hair loss problem today. I won't say anything as long as you don't mention how grey I am!! Thanks ladies
I was a little down about it the other day and was struggling to come to grips with it but in my usual manner I have gone through it in my head and calmed down a lot.
The hair loss seems to have slowed down.....ok it's still coming out but not in hand fulls and I saw counsellor again today and she says hopefully now the body is getting used to lack of calories again it should start retaining the hair but of course will start shedding again as soon as I start eating the calories........so as I said before I am in a bit of a catch 22.
I went and saw a friend the other day that I haven't seen since been back from holiday and she asked if I had had my hair cut and that it looked nice.......I thought she was being polite and avoiding the issue so me being me asked her outright......she was surprised when I told her that it was falling out and she said that it just looked I had gotten to cut and thinned out a bit and to stop worrying because it's not that bad.
I suppose it's because I know the difference and that's why I was more than a bit antsy about it.......since that conversation I have calmed down quite a bit and trying not to stress about it.
As I said I saw my counsellor today to get weighed and we have agreed to carry on but take it on a weekly basis........I am getting so close now that I can actually taste it and don't want to stop now.
I have lost another 8 1/4 pounds making a grand total of 7 st 5 lbs that is a whopping 103 lbs.
:jump for joy: :jump for joy: :jump for joy:
After I got weighed I took Jack swimming and found that the swimming costume that I got for holiday is now too big and I need another one!
I have only been back from holiday for 3 weeks and have managed to shift another stone and a majority of my holiday clothes are too big!........will have to do some more serious shopping soon!
Mary - I promise that I won't comment on your grey hair just as long as you don't refer to me as baldy!...........was going to contact you about getting the Agenda sorted.....speak soon
Sue - Have spoken to my counsellor and she says that no matter what I do the hair will not grow until I start eating sufficient calories but will definately keep that in mind when I do start the steps and eating again.
Tatia - thank you  .......I am absolutely amazed that I have managed to stick with it myself........I have spent 12 years yo-yoing up and down and never managing to get rid of the excess weight.......I know it sounds really strange but in many ways it has been the easiest diet I have ever done and I have definately tried quite a few over the years!.
Angel - I am not too bad sweetie......you know me I don't stay down in the dumps for too long!........will email you later.

Well it is weigh day again today
When I stepped on the scales my counsellor said she didn't know whether to hug me or slap me (she was of course joking!)
I have shifted another 5lb making a total of 7st 10lb.
She said that if I carry on she would nominate me for Cambridge slimmer of the year which I initially agreed to but then I found out that I would have to attend the annual Conference which would have been ok but it is on December 6th.
That is the date we are meeting up in Birmingham so have had to tell her that I can't do it........she was a little upset but understood.
I have set my inital target and have another 2st 12lb to go but will start eating and working through the steps to increase calories when I have 1 1/2 stone left to shift.
I may find that I want to continue once I real my initial goal but will be able to do that with controlled calories.
I can really see the light at the end of the tunnel now and cannot believe that my goal is getting so close.

Despite being very ill (I have a serious Kidney infection) I still managed to go and get weighed.
I lost another 5lbs making a total of 8st 1lb (113lbs).
Due to being so ill and the drugs that I am taking I have had to start eating again (as from Friday) and am on 1000 calories a day.
I do have to admit that since I started eating I am beginning to feel better as I am giving my body the calories needed to fight off the infection and deal with the side effects of the drugs.
I was a little upset because I didn't want to eat as I was getting so close but knew that I had to be sensible and follow the advice of my doctor & my Cambridge Counsellor.
I will continue eating until next Friday at least and re-evaluate but to be honest I think my body has had enough......
I am not sure I will be able to continue with such a strict regime and have agreed to discuss the matter further with my doctor before I go back to having just the shakes/bars.
There is also the problem with my hair :( .........
One of the side effects of the drugs I am taking is drastic hair loss and it is falling out in clumps again and to be honest I don't think I can afford to loose much more:panic:
I will have to decide whether or not to reduce the calories to 800 or stay at 1000 but needless to say I am feeling really disappointed as I was getting so close to my target.
I know that I can still loose weight by watching what I am eating but it just won't be as fast.
I am trying very hard to remind myself of what I have achieved in such a short period of time.
I stated Cambridge on 3rd March which is only just 6 months ago and I have lost over 8st!..........in that time I have celebrated my birthday, our anniversary and been on a 2 week holiday so I have to agree that it is pretty amazing.

As I said 8 stone is such an achievement already, I know you are not at your goal but you really do need to think of your health.
As you said you'll still lose weight if you watch what you eat it just won't be as fast. Any weight lose is good no matter how long it takes.
I'm so sorry to hear you're poorly Dee, hopefully your infection will clear up soon especially now you are eating.

I am still trying to fight off the kidney infection and I am not sure who is winning :(
I have been taking 8 tablets a day for the last 13 days and things are still not right.
I had to give another urine samploe yesterday to be sent away to the lab and I will get the results tomorrow.
I didn't go and get weighed last Friday as to be honest I just didn't need the stress.
I know that I have put weight on even though I am being really sensible and careful with what I am eating.
I have spoken to my counsellor and she said that it is only natural that I would put on weight as I have gone straight from a strict regime to to a full on eating pattern even though it is healthy food that I am eating.
If I was doing it the correct way I would have been doing 'The Steps' which is introducing foods slowly and allowing my body to adjust to increase in foods and calories before moving on and introducing more food/food groups.
My body has gone straight from starvation mode to full on eating and is basically putting most of what I eat into storage and is therefore laying down fat.
I have got to continue to eat as I am all the while I am taking the antibiotics and trying to fight off the infection.
I am trying desperately not to fret and worry about the weight gain and will have to deal with it as soon as I am feeling better.

Sorry to hear you were ill Lisa.......glad to hear you are feeling better now.
Hope all goes well this week.
I am still struggling health wise as I have had further complications but I won't go into that at the moment as I am fed up with being ill (and feeling quite down about it all!) but lets say that the bug I came back from holiday with has got an awful lot to answer for!!!
I did go and get weighed last Friday.
I was 2 & 3/4 pounds lighter than last time I was weighed by my counsellor so I was really happy as I knew that I had put on quite a few pounds but have obviously managed to loose it.
To date I have lost 8st 3 & 3/4 pounds.
I learnt quite a bit about myself during the time I was eating and that was that my eating patterns are still strongly linked to my emotions as I did go overboard on a few occassions but to be honest I am not surprised as I think it will be something that I battle with for the rest of my life.
I did learn something else really important too..........the old me would have carried on comfort eating and keep promising myself I would take myself in hand and deal with it but never actually do it!
BUT....this time after a few days I realised the damage I was doing and stepped on the scales and was shocked to see the results and immediately took myself in hand and controlled the eating again until I was in a position to go back to the 3 shakes a day.
I have been back on plan for just over a week now and will admit that I am struggling to stay focused and ensure that I am on track.......I haven't given in yet but am really battling with myself everyday.

I am still plugging away but the weight loss has been slower than it previously was.
My Counsellor and I came to the decision that my body has probably had enough of living in starvation mode (especially as I keep getting ill at the moment!) and it was probably best to now start eating a very small high protein meal everyday in order to increase my daily calorie intake.
I did go and get weighed as usual last week and had lost another 1 & 3/4 pounds making a total loss of
8 st 5 & 1/2 pounds.......I seem to be struggling to get closer to that 9 stone mark but I am sure that it will come :D
I was due to get weighed this morning as normal but my appointment was cancelled so I will either go early next week or leave it until next Friday.
I have found that I did start to get 'comfortable' with myslef as I am now at a weight that I haven't seen for over 13 years and what with everyone's fabulous support and comments I started to feel that maybe it was time to relax a little for a while.
BUT
I have had some pictures of me taken and although I do agree that I look fabulous compared to what I did in the past I am still over weight and if I am honest still not happy with myself.
I am glad that I had these pictures taken as it has given me the boost to continue on and plug away at that last 2 stone.

hey dee, not seen you around and was just wondering how you are doing hun?
deeb66
08-12-2008, 03:38 PM
Hiya sweetie
Yes I am still around but really busy so don't get much time to spend on here I am afraid :(
Like everyone else I am really busy with minding & EYFS but I am also chair of Surrey's Childminding Association (SCCMA) as well as a Network Minder and a Support Minder and I also run a toddler froup one day a week - sometimes there really isn't enough hours in the day!
I am still plugging away slowly but surely :)
I have now lost a total of 9 stone so am really pleased. I aim to try and loose another stone and then will decide whether or not to stop there. I am eating but obviously doing it sensibly so expect that the weight loss will be much slower than it was when on 'Sole Source'.
I cannot believe the difference the weight loss has made to my life. I have returned to the confident person I used to be many years ago. Instead of 'apologising' for my size and I much more confident and celebrate the fact that I have lost so much weight.
I really believe that I couldn't have done it without being on the Cambridge Diet as I constantly yo-yoed for 13 years but have managed to shift all this weight in under 9 months.
In fact I have that much belief in the Cambridge product that I am in the process of becoming an Independant Cambridge Diet Counsellor (CDC) myself. I will have finished my training and become licensed in the next couple of weeks so will be ready to advertise for clients from January.
How are you?
Hope you are well

Well that's it........I have finally done it
I got a phone call from Cambridge Head office earlier this week to say that I have passed and am now officially an Independent Cambridge Diet Counsellor (CDC).
Am just waiting for my business pack to arrive and then I will be able to sort out getting some stock and I will be up and running.
There wasn't enough hours in the day before and it will be fun trying to juggle everything
As you know I don't have the children on Friday's and as from the end of February I am going to be minding for 3 days a week (Tues, Wed & Thurs) so I am hoping to Counsel my clients on Mondays & Friday's.
Will also have to work out some time for a couple of evenings a week for those clients who cannot get to see me during their working day.
I am really looking forward to it

Well that's it......I have had long enough off.
I am going away on holiday in July so have decided it is time to shift those last couple of stone.
I have got 2 & 3/4 stone to lose to get me to the top end of my 'healthy weight'. Once I have got there I will decide if I want to go any further or not......to be honest I have been big for so long that I don't really know if going any lower would actually suit me.....after all I am not getting any younger either
So I am back on the Sole Source bandwagon and everything going ok at the moment.
I have definately found it a little harder this time as I haven't got as much drive as I had before (after all I am 9 stone lighter!!) but I really do want to lose some more weight.

Cambridge - I am now a Cambridge Counsellor.
I started last March (2008) and came off at near the end of September hence the reason I felt it time to jump back on the wagon.
I started this thread in March 2008 which really helped me and kept me going and the ladies on here were really supportive and helped me along.
You all know who you are so thank you ladies

I had a very tough week :(
Thursday was G's last day and to say that it was a hard day would be an understatement!
I have looked after G for 3 years and love her dearly - I really don't think I could love her anymore if she was my own if you see what I mean.
So I was having a tough day I felt miserable and very sad and was tearful and that was the day he brought in those blooming doughnuts. I was ok during the day but come 6 o'clock when her mum knocked on the door I broke down on the doorstep and cried as I am really going to miss this little girl.
After they left I walked in the kitchen and before I knew it I had eaten my way through 3/4 of a doughnut........I was not happy and was really angry with myself but had to accept that I am human and put it behind me and carry on!
I have got to get my backside in gear as only got 13 weeks until my holiday :panic:

I know I have to do it but to be honest I seem to have lost a bit of my drive if you know what I mean.
When I did it before I was huge and had one heck of an incentive but now that I am a lot smaller it seems a lot harder this time round.
In one respect it is good for me to go through this sort of hardship as it helps me to understand my clients a little better when they have problems staying on track.......so some good has come of it.
I have promised myself that I am going to get back on and stay on track and this is why I activated my diary again as I found that it really helped me last year and I know I couldn't have done it without all the support I got from everyone on here.

Hi ladies
Yes I am doing ok and am still on track :clapping:
Yes Debbie it really is difficult trying to re-focus and jump back on but like you I am going away in July and I really want to lose the rest of the weight.
It would seem that I am a classic 'Apple' shape and all the excess weight is around my tummy/love handles area which means that I have to wear a bigger top to cover it all as I can't stand my flab hanging out if you know what I mean :D
My legs are now really skinny which I think makes my stomach look worse so desperately trying to shift it.
I don't think I will ever get into a bikini.......wouldn't want to frighten away the others on the beach.......mind you that would guarantee a sun bed though wouldn't it
Been to Ikea today - Nigel and Jack sat and had a fried breakfast and I had a black coffee and bottle of fizzy water so was really pleased with myself. Also popped into the garden centre on way back so spent the afternoon gardening which helped to keep my mind of food.
Will admit that I am finding it easier as the days goes past but am still arguing with myself especially in the evening. The other day there was a huge debate going on in my head about a packet of custard creams. The joke of it is that I don't really like custard creams but they were the only packet of biscuits in the cupboard
Fortunately, I held out and didn't eat them.

I am doing well......just plodding along :D
Lost another 3lb last week which I was pleased with. If I am honest I was hoping for a little more but have had to accept that I won't lose as much as I did when I originally done Cambridge as I am considerably lighter.
So the Counsellor side of me gave the client side of me a good talking to and told me that I should be pleased with a 3lb weight loss which made me happy ;)
I do still struggle and fight with myself in the evenings but have managed to hold on.

Ask me no questions and I will tell you no lies
As you can tell from the above things are not going too well for me at the moment......I am really really busy and running around like a headless chicken and am under a quite a bit of stress hence not being kind to myself.
Having said that I have given myself a talking to again and am going to stop making excuses and get on with the job in hand!!!!
If I can't manage to get myself back on track I think I might go back to my Counsellor and get her to weigh me every week as it is harder to cheat and come up with excuses when you have to 'account' to someone else.......one of the down sides to being a CDC myself!
BUT as I say I am going to try and take myself in hand and get on with the job in hand and today is the start on another week

Hi Dee, how are things going for you?? X
Hiya
I have to admit that I had struggled before I went away on holiday and just couldn't get back into the swing of it and decided that I wasn't doing myself any favours by keep starting and falling off the wagon again as I wasn't getting anywhere so decided just to eat sensibly and deal with it when I got home.
I have had reoccurring thyroid problems which hasn't helped either and has contributed to struggling to maintain my weight so before I went away I was 11lb heavier which did make a big difference to the size clothes that I was wearing but I refused to beat myself up about it and enjoy my holiday.
Well I did enjoy it obviously too much  ......I ate far too much bread, cheese & ice cream. I also drank far too much beer and wine which are the worst offenders for sugar and calories and because my body wasn't used to dealing with them levels anymore it is needless to say that I put on a load of weight.
I knew that I had as my clothes were tighter when I got home. At that point I refused to step on the scales as I knew that I wasn't ready to deal with it but finally took myself in hand on Saturday morning and had such a shock.
Whilst away I had put on another 12lbs and to be honest I feel like a blob so went straight back to SS so am currently on day 4.
I have to lose the original 11lb plus the 12lb that I put on whilst away. I also still needed to lose at least another 1.5 stone after I finished Cambridge last year so in total need to shift a total of around 3 stone.
I feelvery motivated at the moment as once again am very unhappy with my size so wish me luck :D
Thanks for asking

we all have these blips, life does get in the way, the main thing is not to beat ourselves up!
I rejoined Slimming world last night, even though I hadnt left, Ive just spent the last 18months going up and down, so at start weight last night I was just 2lbs lighter than I was xmas 2007!!! BUT going to keep trying, I know what I need to do, just need to do it!!!

Thank you ladies
Yes Erin I am very motivated at the moment as am unhappy with how I look again and I really feel that success on Cambridge is down to how bad you feel about yourself - as we all know it is a drastic diet to do and can be very hard at times.
When I first did Cambridge last year I found it the easiest diet I have ever done but then I think that was because I really did dislike myself.....no I am lying I have to be honest and say that I HATED myself and really didn't want to look like that anymore.
I have made several attempts since February this year to try and get back on it again and lose the other 1.5 stone that I needed to but found it really difficult but that was because I didn't hate myself anymore- I was happy and weighed considerably less than I had in over 13 years.
I am now at a place where I don't hate how I look but am really not happy either so it really is time to deal with the problem as I will NEVER go back to how I was before Cambridge.
One thing I will say is that it has taught be a very valuable lesson as a CDC as I now know how my clients feel when they cannot manage to stick to the plan and have a better chance of helping them now to either re-evaluate or to stay on track.
Well done for getting back on track Sharon - I know that you can do it as you have done it before. I know what you mean about the porridge yuk yuk yuk!........Nigel went on Cambridge for nearly 2 weeks before we went away (he lost nearly 1.5 stone - men they make me sick ha ha) and he loved the porridge.
I really think the porridge is like Marmite - you either love it or you hate it there is no in between!
Thank you very much Louise I really appreciate the support and remember the huge support you gave me last year. Yes there ae now a lot of members doing/trying Cambridge on here now and it is really great to see and I am more than happy to help anyone who needs it. Well done for getting back on track with SW.....I know that you can do it
Hope you all have a good day

As I told you many times I was always more than happy to help and support as I know how hard it can be - it was a shame that you had such a bad CDC in the beginning.
I was really lucky in that I had a fantastic CDC and she was always there for me and I do feel that I couldn't have done it without her help and support especially in those first few weeks.

I am going back onto cd after my hols (monday yippeee) as I just can't focus on slimming world, and have now maintained give or take a few pounds on/off/on again:o since May
I need to lose the rest of this weight, it feels very odd for me know though, as I am in a 14 bottom and 12 top, but still overweight:( I thought I would be happy, as the jeans I wear I bought before having dd (5 at end of august!!) and they have looked so tiny next to when I was a size 18/20
So looking at joining you all again in Sept, I just want to enjoy my hols:laughing:

I know what you mean about trying to lose weight via 'conventional' diets......I was the same hence the reason I never managed to shift that last 1.5 stone that I needed to.
I know that I can maintain my weight (as long as I don't go away on holiday ha ha) fairly easily but just struggled to loose anymore....
It is funny isn't it how even though we have lost huge amounts of weight we still aren't happy with ourselves. I was happy for a while but now that I have got used to and adjusted to my new size I am no longer happy. Nigel says that yes he can see I have put on a little weight but not a huge amount and cannot understand why I appear to be so unhappy about it.
But I look at myself and feel fat again....ok not as bad as I was but I still feel fat hence the reason back to Cambridge.
I am sure that you will have a fab holiday and you can deal with the remaining weight when you get back.
