Had a phone call from Ofsted today stating she wanted to update information. I am thinking it may be a way of checking if I am ready for my first inspection - do they do this?
She wanted to know if I had started minding since being Registered (18 December) and ages of any children I was minding. I told her I only started on 8 March and was minding 1 little one of 17 months but I had only had her part of the time I should have as she had been off sick quite a bit. She wanted to know the exact days and times that I had had her so I told her.
Anyone else had a call like this?
It works out at about 60 hours - do you think they will come and inspect after such a short time of minding?
i had only been minding 3 days when i had my inspection, they rang more or unless asked same questions and arranged date there and then on phone...
I'm afraid thats the start of the inspection ball rolling should be another call too. They often do this to see if your ready for an inspection

I had better get on with getting ready then
I did tell them she wasn't in again until 19 April so hopefully they won't want to come until then

i had this call and it was about 6 weeks after that that i finally got inspected. you will probably get another call from an inspector to arrange though , but not always!

When I got my call like this I told the woman that I was registered in June but didn't start minding until 14th Sept so the woman said it would be sometime after 14th March and they came 25th April.
They rang on 18th at tea time (Friday night) & I said I was busy all week so she opted for the Fri as it was the only day I could cancel what we were doing. - I said this because I was going to the early years exhibition on the Saturday and didn't have time to get ready.
I had my first inspection 2 weeks after I started my first mindiees. I had no mindees for the first few months (april to August) they rang twice in this period, then I started in September and had the phonecall only weeks later

She rang. She is coming week commencing 26 April.
She wanted to come this week but I'm not minding.
I know she went to another new minder near me this morning and was ok. Yikes, that could have been me and I am nowhere near ready!
Mainly have SEF to do but lots of other niggly bits!
