and I got Good with 3 areas of outstanding - overall grade Good!!

I'm really pleased with that - the inspection went really well and she was only here 1 hour 15 minutes. She thanked me for doing such a detailed SEF and said if I hadn't done that she would have been here for at least another 2 hours.

My tip for anyone who's due an inspection is to complete the SEF (and buy Sarah's e-book first as it will be much easier to do!)

I didn't get any actions, just one recommendation which was to build on my working with parents - mainly showing them my learning journeys and asking them to contribute to them as she said it was obvious I spend so much time and effort on the learning journeys that they should know about it!

Here comes my Oscar speech - a huge thank you to:

SARAH for the excellant Sef e-book - I really don't think I would have understood the Sef enough to complete it without referring to this. And also for answering my many questions regarding the EYFS!

ANGEL - for her help with my learning journey introduction over the last few days and the private messages of support, thanks for always being there to help.

Last but not least - EVERYONE on this forum you always give so much support and help, I don't think I'd even be a childminder now if it wasn't for you lot!

I'm so relieved it's over and am waiting for my Asda home delivery to arrive with the Galaxy chocolate in it, which I ordered for this evening (to either console myself or celebrate depending on the outcome!).

Thank you all!

I've just put my little one to bed so I'll be starting on the galaxy shortly!! Got to go off the laptop for a while though as dh needs to use it :(

And the day gets better - my mindee's mum phoned a little while ago and told me she's had her baby. A gorgeous little girl called Lily - can't wait for a cuddle now!!

well done!! :clapping:

What sort of things did they look at?? how did they want you to show that ur parents see the learning journals

I got all my paperwork out (everything!) on the kitchen table ready for her and because I'd done my Sef she had already spent 2 hours (she told me!) the previous day putting the information on her laptop, she had highlighted sections of my Sef that she had printed off and she went through all my paperwork to check I was doing what I said on the Sef, if that makes sense!

She only asked me a couple of questions, the main one was what would I do if I was approached to care for a child with a disability or learning difficulty. (I replied that I would find as much information as possible from the parent/guardian and then assess my home to see if it was suitable and also consider if I could give the best level of care to the child without having an impact on the other children. If I felt able to provide the care I would then do some research and get additional resources if it would benefit the child - she liked this answer and was pleased I didn't just say I would care for the child!).

With regards to the learning journey she recommended that I send them home with the parents from time to time and ask them to contribute by making a comment and/or including a photo and details of something the child has done at home or on holiday etc.

Well done to you. As for showing evidence of sharing information i have included a section on my observation sheets that allows for comments from other settings/parents.
