are you all planting yours out tomorrow as it says in the pack? how big should the sprouts be , not sure mine are ready for planting! so not green fingered!

no im gunna leave it for a few weeks mine arent ready yet they need to be about a inch they will be ok now but wont do any harm leaving and lo's are watching them now.

it doesnt say how big they have to be but if you delay them you have to delay harvesting them as well.

We're going to plant ours on Wed as don't have mindee tomorrow.
My shoots aren't huge but I think they're OK to plant now?!

Mine arent very big either. We have had potatoes growing in our compost bins in the past and the shoots on the thrown away ones wouldnt have been that big
i asked my mum she said put them in now half fill bag then cover with a bit of compost let them grow thou then layer soil on top as potatos grow off stem... hope shes right :rolleyes:

We planted ours today, our shoots didnt seem to grow from when we first had them so just have to wait and see, :)

it doesnt matter how big the shoots are as you don't HAVE to chit them! some people dont bother and get just as good results.:)

End march is the time to plant them out, if you have had your pototoes out on a window sill, cool place, then by the end of March the shoots should be a good size that when you do plant them the shoots have a start before they go into the ground or in pototoe growing bags.
