Hi I had my first inspection on monday and really upset as only got satisfactory. I was wondering do I have to tell parents now or should i wait till ive received the report and give them a copy. One of my parents is very fussy and her first question when starting was do you get inspected? Therefore I feel she may be unhappy as satisfactory sounds rubbish and i havent got to know her properly yet. Rather her see that i have good points too on my report instead of me just telling her. I have only had the lo 2 days.

Id wait til you get the report and see how it reads - it will probably show how good you are but with areas for improvement , then you can show mum what you intend to put in place.
If she asks why you didnt tell her blame ofsted , as its meant to be confidential til its been through all the quality checks.

I would wait till you have it in writing and then offer them a copy, if they say oh how did it go, i would then not use the word satisfactory, but say something like 'yes fine, doing exactly what I am required to be'

I would wait 'til I had my inspection report. Don't forget that making the satisfactory grade means you are doing everything required of you as a childminder.:)

I'd also wait for your report to come through.
Like the others have said, satisfactory means you're doing everything you need to - it's just the word that sounds bad.

that's exactly what I was going to suggest, don't make satisfactory seem like a bad grade because it's not - it's an unfortunate word!!!
wait till you have your report, show it to the parents and say "my ofsted grade shows I am doing everything I am required to do" (or words to that effect!)
Well done on your excellent grade.

I love ( and now often quote ) what somebody on here wrote. That they ' ...are an outstanding childminder with satisfactory paperwork '

Most childminders on here will tell you from experience that their customers are more interested in what they themselves think of you than what an inspector thinks, and, to most of us thats the most important thing. At my last inspection i almost forced the report in to the hands of my parents thinking they would be dead impressed and i was wrong. They all just said "we love what you do and don't need an inspector to tell us".
Your grading is aboslutely fine, you are meeting the requirements and thats all that matters. the real job is in keeping your customers happy.
Well done:thumbsup:

Well done on your grading and when your report comes out, give your parents a copy. Inspectors only see a small snapshot of our minding in the grand scheme of things. :)
wait till u get your report as others have said then show them a copy and post it on your notice board and be proud u are meeting all the requirements that are expected of you .... and as someone else said as long as the children are happy and parents dont worry....

I am "Satisfactory" too. Wait until you get your report as hopefully your report will be written like mine in that she made it clear that The children where happy and well cared for, that I offered a safe environment and that it was just some of the paperwork that needed reviewing.
