Hiya guys.
Just curious, i had my inspection 2 years ago.
The lady was here for a hour and half, she sat on the settee & didn't move until she left.
I stayed in the living room for most of the time whilst caring for the children played a puzzle and a numbers game, she watched, asked tuns of questions, and went though a few bits of paperwork.
What has been your experience with Ofsted on your inspection?
Do you think they go through paperwork with a fine tooth comb now?

I think it's a bit of both really from what I have been hearing.

Of course it does depend on the inspector.

As soon as you have a name try and find some of his / her reports so you can see what s/he focuses on :D

Mine went through every bit of paperwork I gave her, but also paid a lot of attention to how I was with the children.

Her comments were definitely more based on things I did rather than on my paperwork.

My inspection was lovely

She went through most thinks, but just flicked really she ony actually read my RA and learning Journeys fully.

She played alot with the baby I look after and she actually sat on the floor with me for most of it
She was here maybe just under two hours and except for the first few mins it was enjoyable

it will depend on the inspector , as with everything!
mine first checked all my statutory things - crbs , insurances , ra's , policies etc.
then she focused on observing me and the children .
only after that did she have a quick look at the lj's.
I would say that was in order of importance too.

I would say its how one reflects the other.

In my feedback the things she mentioned were related to 'me' as opposed to my paperwork , but if it hadnt all been in place then it may have been different!

mine barely even glanced at the children (or me for that matter) she was engrosed in my paperwork the whole time and did not seem interested in what i was doing with the children.
she was nice enough but my whole inspection was definately paperwork orientated.

Mine spent nearly 4hours reading all my paperwork to within a inch of its life, the whole time asking me questions constantly, i could barely get a sentence out to the children before she asked another question!

My inspector sat up the table for all of the 3 hours she was with me - she chatted to me about the EYFS and the children, etc and mainly looked at my paperwork and made notes on her laptop. She watched me with the children a few times but mainly it was all about looking through my paperwork and asking me questions.

She never even looked around my house

Mine was with me for over 5 hours, she was very nice but very thorough too. She didn't say much, smiled a lot, asked a few questions and spoke to one of my mums, even got offered lunch!

She had never given an outstanding before and said she wanted to be absolutely sure she had done everything to the letter! (I found out after she had graded me)

Mine was with me 5 hours & was thorough both with paperwork & observing me - she was lovely & TBH I'm quite gutted that I won't have her for my next inspection:(

Like everyone has said, I think it totally depends on the inspector. At my first inspection the inspector was roughly equal with paperwork and what I was doing with the mindees.
My second inspection was very different. The inspector was only interested in the paperwork. She was not bothered about what the kids were doing or what they had done previously. She did not really appear to be very child friendly, in fact she made one of them cry!
