I know in England you need planning permission if you go over a certain number of children - round here it's 6...
And if you are in a council house you need permission to use the premises for business.
You should be able to find out about all this about your local area on your pre-reg - do you still have access to your tutor? :D

Best person to check with would be the local Care Commission offices or local Development Officer from the SCMA - http://www.childminding.org/contact-us/regional-staff - sorry absolutely no idea which region Renfrewshire is, I'ma Sassenach ;)
Good luck!

As far as I was told its only if you live in a council house that you need permission but generally they dont bother.

I Wales it varies from council to council. Where I live, until last summer, childminders were only allowed 6 people going in and out the house otherwise change of use and planning permission had to be sought - As a family of 5 that meant only one minding place so it wasn't sustainable. Last summer they changed it.

If you are in a council house you will need to get permission to use your home for your business. Otherwise you won't need planning permission

No planning permission needed, but I did let my neighbours know before I started anyway, so they can't complain!!
