I had my Ofsted Inspection today and was graded outstanding in all areas. I also was graded 'outstanding' in my last inspection 3 years ago.
I would say to you all, attend as much training as possible and keep up to date. Complete your SEF, I found Sarah's book invaluable (thank you Sarah), plan with the child and take your lead from the child. Have risk assessments in place, however i do not write a risk assessment for every time we step outside of my premises. I have generic risk assessments for travelling in the car, walking to school, going to the shops, visiting the children's centre etc. This was perfectly acceptable, however for extra curricular activities, such as, a visit to a farm a seperate risk assessment is written.
Finally be yourself, I was caring for two 2 year old boys and a 1 year old little girl. One of the boys has learning difficullties, the other boy showed off the whole time and the girl kept crying and was clingy. The inspector said my leadership management skills were amazing.
Hope this information helps those who are awaiting a visit.
A glass of wine tonight i think.
