An upside down green handprint with open fingers could be made to look like a christmas tree. decorate with coloured fingerprints/glitter/sequins (with supervision) depending on age and add a trunk.
I have also just used a gold painted handprint mounted on the card. The pics are still on 'photos of craft work' on the forum

I cut triangles out of green paper for christmas trees. DS1 (3 yrs) stuck them on black card for me and DS2 (2 yrs) and mindees (10 months and 14 months) decorated them with silver finger print baubles!
Last year we did red potato print triangles with white finger prints on the top to make santa hats!

I like that idea! Could add cotton wool or glitter at the bottom for fur!
Off to cut a tattie.
