Hi all,
I have 2 children who are over 8, I let them go upstairs to my childrens bedroom to play, aslong as its ok with my children. I pop up every 15 mins or so to see if they are ok. and keep the doors open so I can hear them. is this ok or should they not go upstairs on their own????

Thanks for the replys, I only asked as another childminder said ofsted wouldnt like this as children should be seen at all times, I couldnt see a problem with it myself as the children are old enough.

I do this too. But as a precaution, I asked the parents if it was okay with them too as their children weren't going to be 'directly supervised'. None of the parents had a problem with it, but it does cover your back!

Mine go upstairs just make sure your insured. I too go up ever 15mins or so. I think they feel appreciated that they can be trusted to play upstair unsupervised..

As long as your kids rooms are registered and therefore insured I see nothing wrong.

I put the baby montior on too so i can listen in every so often to make sure they are ok - bullying/ inappropriate conversations will all happen when they think you aren't listening!
