I am thinking about offering overnight care as have had an enquiry yesterday. Has anyone had any experience of this and what sort of money could you charge? Also how long can you care for a child for continuously as the enquiry I had was due to mum going away to a conference for work for three days/two nights and she has no-one else to care for child. Do Ofsted allow continuous care for this amount of time?

I think you need to speak to Ofsted about the length of time issue.
Changes to certificates are taking up to 12 weeks at the moment as well, so that might affect your plans.
Hth :D

I put variation in yesteday and they phoned today to give me go ahead, talk things through and issue certificate. Really couldn't believe it happened that fast. Once certificate comes I can start offering this service. Just got to sort fees now!!

I offer overnight care, and charge a flat fee of £25. Thats from the point of when the child would be going home til the time they would arrive in the morning - in my case 6pm til 9.30am. I have also recently had 2 children from early hours of a monday morning until late wednesday evening as mum was in slow labour! Its not ideal, but mum has no family here.
Hope that helps xx

i dont think your charging enough!!!
from 6pm till 8pm when they go to bed i would charge £10, I would charge £25 for the over night if they were over 5, more if not, child likely to wake from 7am... so another £5 from 7am till 8am, then my normal hourly rate from 8am.
so I would charge £40 for the overnight. its a lot of responsibility!! your worth more!!! if under 5 i would prob charge £50 as they more likely to get you out of bed :d

I charge £25 for overnight 7pm to 7am and my normal rates around these times. I am about to finish overnight care though as having done it for approx 7 years i am fed up of it and also my younger daughter who ends up sharing a room is getting older now and needs her privacy.

I have been stuggling with what to charge. Was thinking around £50 from 6:30pm - 8:00 pm (outside my normal hours) then revert to usual fees if ran into working hours. Would have to make sure child was collected for 8:00am most days so it didn't affect day numbers. (thursday and friday my mindee doesn't come till 10:00am so a bit more flexibility on those days for overnighter to stay couple of hours if needed)
Do any of you offer overnight at weekends and do you charge more?
