Ok I know we have been over and over and I'm going to dredge it all up again.
A minder friend of mine has just had her new certificate through and the first section states how many she can mind, when and where etc - she has different and it quite clearly states that "no more than 3 may be in the early years age group" - Then there are some explainations at the bottom and it states that "The early years age group is children age from birth to the 31st Aug after their 5th birthday" - This looks as though if she (or any other minder) has children who are in reception before and/or after school and/or in the hols in addition to 3 pre schoolers that she will be over her numbers.
I have reassured her that I have seen confirmation from ofsted stating that so long as the children are in full time education (or five full sessions or words to that effect). So what I need to do now is find it but I've had a bit of a search yesterday and cannot find it so if anyone out there can point me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful.
This time I will print a copy off and put it into my info folder ready for when I get my new certificate so I can show it to parents if ever one ever queried it.
Thanking you in anticipation of your kind assistance in this matter ( LICK LICK LICK)
Thanks - C

The clarification for it is usually already on the certificate.
The third note in mine says worss to the effect of
'when caring for 4/5 yr olds in full time education, the number of children in the early years may be inceased by the same amount'

I saw hers this morning and it doesn't say that anywhere!! - that would make sense.
She works with an assistant sometimes and she has chosen not to include a room so it states all about that too perhaps there just wasn't enough room to put all of that in.

It doesnt have to have the bit about 4/5 year olds stated on the certificate but it still applies that if they attend 10 sessions at school then they can be counted in the 5-8 range.
The reason that it states 3 in the ey range is because a child does not legally have to attend school until the term after their 5th birthday, so it is different potentially to each child and whether they attend school or not, OFSTED have clearly said that we can use this guidance ourselves as and when a child attends school it does not need to be on our certificates.

What is bothering this minder is that parents don't know all of this and may not believe her so she wants something in writing - thats all - she is afraid one of her parents when they see this new certificate will think she is doing something wrong and report her and just cause her bother out of badness. Even if she is in the right nobody wants ofsted knocking on the door out of the blue now do they?

Yes thanks - it is for my friend the outstanding one you met at that meeting the other week!!!
She will write to them on Monday, she is also going to see 'G' about it - WHY? I think she wants something on their letterhead to show - I know how she feels - she does have a funny lot of parents - I had some visiting parents query my cert once - infact I think I took the kiddies on for a few weeks and then by the time they had messed me about so much that I just didn't care anymore and told them I couldn't do the last thing they asked me - I just let them go and that was the end of that - they owed me money and everything but I was soooo glad to see the back of them I didn't care - had enough of that S*** last year!!!
I'm actually taking on one of Y's mindees when he starts school in Sept - the family moved house after starting with her so left him there but they live really close to me and he will be going to school round the corner from me so parents are sending him here TTO. - these are her best/most normal parents:laughing:  and she's passed them on to me:laughing:

Just ask her to ring Ofsted and explain the lack of info on her certificate and ask for another one. problem solved!
