I think that there is no substitute for keeping hold of your child in public areas and teaching them how to stay safe. I wouldn't be buying one as just see it as another money spinner praying on our emotions.
On another note if my own children weren't the angels they are :) and I had one of my mindees with me then I would definately get one :clapping:

13 metres is a long way. i keep them closer than that so it wouldnt work for me.

I had one on my DD until she was 4, as she needed freedom but I needed to make sure she was close (although I was watching her I wanted back up). The one I had you could change the distance.
