I received my report a few weeks ago week and it is still really bugging me that I didn't get a better grade in at least one area. I got the same as last time despite the fact I now have a level 4 and am working towards my foundation degree, I think I have really improved. I met with my development worker last night and she had read the repot on line and is really surpised that I didn't do better, she has seen other cm with the same grade that don't have the same level of practice as me. She thinks it is because I have been off work for 9 months and so did not have a great deal of paper evidence to show the inspector alllthough every thing is in place, but I did offer to show her stufff from last year but she wasn't interested and she had the oppertunity to talk to a parent who was collecting and she chose not to (this parent has been with me for a few years).
Have a look at tell me if you think the grades are a fai reflection after reading the main body of the report.

She found a mistake in your paperwork - maybe that coloured her judgements...?
Otherwise it's an excellent report which reads really well.
If you feel you deserve better you should challenge her to come up with other ways to meet outstanding.

When I questionned my inspector about what I could do to move from good to outstanding she told me it was not the job of inspectors to offer suggestions, but they awarded outstanding to something that made them think "Wow" that is great. She then explained all about a lady who let each mindee chose their own different coloured flannel for hand washing  It seems to be a subjective judgement that inspectors have some degree of discretion over. My Development Officer was gobsmaked when I told her I had good overall - she said she was fully expecting me to get outstanding - which I take as an accolade in itself

There is no mistake in my paper work is is all up to scratch. I think she was on about outing permissions which I have on my contract and the only other thing she pick up on was no info on when I leave children with an assistant and again there is a whole policy on this which she didn't read
I did have 24 hours to correct this but my post was a few days late because of the last postal strike so I missed the window of opportunity.

I think it sounds great - it just goes to show different inspectors have different ideas. A friend of mine challenged hers and got it changed - maybe u should look into it - well done though:clapping: :clapping:

It's an excellent report.
If you're not happy you could appeal but you might have to face another inspection

The report reads as good and is a fantastic result.
Different inspectors look for different things but the basics are all the same. I think it just depends on who you have on the day
If you still feel strongly, then appeal and have another inspection.

If you want to complain about your report you have 30 days from publication. I complained about mine and got a few changes made. Contact them by e mail if you want them to look into it, you will get a letter by reply and a phone call a few weeks later!
Good Luck

I've been working all day so not able to come on here but yes, I was going to say the same as grindal!
You have 30 days to complain, so if she has made a mistake and you have paperwork to show that she didn't see, tell them!
